eBOOK Update with Guest Artist: Paul Schmit (Patreon)

Starting today, I'm beginning the serialization of version 2.0 my "Milky Way NightScapes" eBook. Serialization is when a book is released in small pieces over a period of time, rather than all in one complete book or ebook. 

Only my Patreon members will see these advance, page-by-page updates — until the new eBook is completed and ready for public release, sometime in mid to late 2023. This first one-page update is attached below.

All my patrons have my original eBook version 1.1, which many experts consider to be the "Bible" of nightscape photography. However, that first edition had very little information on tracking, stacking, panoramas, astro camera modification, and a hosts of other advanced techniques, many of which have been developed since 2015.

One of those developments is an emerging genre, called "deepscapes". Deepscapes featuring individual deep sky objects, in correct juxtaposition with an earthly foreground. They typically involve shooting at telephoto focal lengths greater or equal to 70mm (Full Frame), which requires a tracked sky and an untracked foreground.

All of the above images were taken by Paul Schmit. You can see more of his deepscapes on this webpage. Paul has a how-to tutorial explaining how he creates his deepscapes. Paul also participated in the 107-minute DEEPSCAPES video presentation at the 2021 NightScaper Conference, along with deepscape experts, Ralf Rohner and Dheera Venkatraman.

To make version 2.0 more interesting and authoritative, I'm featuring "Guest Artists" or experts throughout the eBook, in addition to my own writings and tutorials. I think you are going to be impressed with their expertise. I look forward to sharing these advance page updates with you each month, until the book is complete!
