I just completed a four-page section update to my new eBook that's all about how to avoid or utilize moonlight to enhance your Milky Way nightscapes.

My friend, Brad Goldpaint, is an expert on photographing the Milky Way with moonlight. He is highlighted in this updated section. In fact, all three of the above photos were taken by Brad (© Brad Goldpaint). The top image, "Transport the Soul", and the bottom left image, "Cold Stone", both include the Moon in each image — something that many nightscape photographers say can't be done, or shouldn't be done!

Not only is Brad wildly successful in breaking the rules, he's won Royal Museums of Greenwich's "Astronomy Photographer of the Year" award for doing so.

As you'll learn from this new section, it is possible to use the Moon simultaneously with the Milky Way, if you use one of the "Crescent Moon" phases, or if your Moon is near the horizon, so that its light is dimmed by more of the Earth's atmosphere. Moonlight will still weaken the impact of the Milky Way, but the beauty it will add to your foreground features is often worth the sacrifice!

PDF: Be sure to download (below) and view my latest version 2.0 eBook update about using moonlight.

NOTE: My patrons can expect to see many more posts over the next few months, as I continue to "serialize" updates to my original, version 1.1 "Milky Way NightScapes" eBook. These advance updates will become available exclusively to my patrons, page-by-page, until my new version 2.0 eBook is completed and published sometime in mid to late 2023.
