Several years ago, Mike Shaw started showing me how Planit Pro was uniquely different than my favorite planning app, PhotoPills. Although I love PhotoPills (and still I'm more comfortable it using it), there are some things that Planit Pro can do better.

Planit's key capability that sets it apart from all the other photo planning apps and tools is its "Viewfinder VR" feature, or, as Mike calls it, the Virtual Viewfinder. Planit's Virtual Viewfinder allows you to create and interactively display a simulated image of what your camera will capture from a selected location at a designated time and date using a specific focal length lens and with your camera aimed in a particular direction – all with no need to be on-location. These simulations include unbelievably accurate depictions of both the foreground and night sky objects.

Mike's above panorama is a perfect example. Planit was able to show him exactly where the lighthouse landmark and the rising Quarter Moon would be in relation to the Milky Way, AND how many overlapping panoramic exposures it would take, depending on the lens focal length he chose!

NOTE: Today's PDF download is four pages long, and is linked (from the third page) to a longer (eight pages) version that you can also view and download.

PDF: Be sure to download (below) and view my latest Version 2.0 eBook update by "Guest Artist," Mike Shaw.

NOTE: My patrons can expect to see many more posts over the next few months, as I continue to "serialize" updates to my original, version 1.1 "Milky Way NightScapes" eBook. These advance updates will become available exclusively to my patrons, page-by-page, until my new version 2.0 eBook is completed and published in late March 2024.
