Regarding the film recommendation, I'm going to recommend the 2018 film Climax, from my favourite director Gaspar Noé. It's a very creative and unique film that doesn't really adhere to standard film form or structure, and is considered to be a part of the French extremism film movement. If you want something both technically impressive and incredibly disturbing I'd highly recommend checking it out. Adum from YMS recommend it and said it was his favourite movie from 2018 if that gives it any more legitimacy.

Horror movie recommendation: The Thing (1982). Keith David, Kurt Russell, and Wilford Brimley deliver great performances. All the characters act like real people and play it smart. Please give it a watch.

Seconded. Another favourite of mine. John Carpenter is a genius when it comes to horror. Although my favourite Carpenter film is In the Mouth of Madness. Sam Neill gives his best performance in that movie.
