Hey everyone,

Here's a draft of the next video. I hope to get it out early this weekend.

I’d love any feedback—particularly if you catch mistakes or spots that might be unclear. I already have a few tweaks planned, but I want the final product to be as good as possible, so please don't hold back.

Parity check

I was completely tracking right up to "even parity transmitter" @ ~18:00. I find it hard to conceptualize why the parity keeps the transmitter even. Everything is explained so well and visually, but that part I lost that comfortable feeling of understanding exactly what you were saying. Love this series though!

I have another graphic in the works that I hope will make that clearer. It's an important concept for the video, so I really appreciate the feedback that it's not quite there yet.

Superb, as usual, Ben. If the comm line and power cable were parallel to each other, there would be greater chance at inductance. If I recall my datacomm days, EIA/TIA wiring requires that signal wire crosses at 90 degrees to a power cable. Try it again parallel to see if the switch flicking works better at inducing a signal onto the signal cable. Looking forward to the next one.

I wonder why you didn’t connect the parity circuit on the receiver to the arduino, it’s like having a nice error detection system but not using it (except for reading it directly from the board and being sad that something went wrong). But maybe you intended to keep that for a later video on two way communication to request the corrupted parts, I don’t know.

When can we expect the next video, Ben?
