Which CPU would you like to see used for our memory testing covering scaling and timing performance? I'm thinking 5900X would be a good choice, but I'm keen to hear from you guys.

PoEfanatic

I think the R5 5600X would be appropriate as that is the one most people can afford.

Time to see if my 32gb of 2666 is useless...

Ariel Sue

I had to opt for the 5600x. I think it might be the right choice, just to save some face, so we don't get the idea that you've lost touch or something like that.

Ariel Sue

Think it'll improve my Factorio gaming experience over my 3800x? xD

10GHz Netburst

6 and 16 i would say, should give a good representation of both extremes if there is any divergence

Ariel Sue

The answer is no, I'll still suck...

Ariel Sue

And show any potential differences between 2 and 1 CCDs

Rokuth

5900X just to see what's possible, but for us p!$s poor commoners, the 5600X would be more realistic. Real world results would be nice to know.

Piotr Pomienski

You should ideally compare something with 1 ccx and something with 2ccxes in terms of memory scaling. Not necessarily the full test stuite, but since now 5600/5800x don't need to use infinity fabric for inter core communication, the impact of memory speed on e.g. a 5600 might be smaller than on a 5900x simply because the infinity fabric is less saturated with traffic to begin with.

STFU Aric. You're a king. 🙂 Here you dropped this. 👑

At time of writing 5600X+5800X equals 5900X. From an Aussie perspective, the 5600X costs the same as I paid for my 7700K so, anything above that I regard as a workstation processor. I won't mind but do prefer 5600X, it's the one to buy after all for most of us

The Twins

so split can we just do them all lol but my vote is the 5800X as its what i bought

HOkay

I agree with Piotr above, a one CCX vs a two CCX would be interesting, so I'd suggest the 5600X (most popular chip I'm guessing) vs the 5950X (the fastest possible chip).

Buzzkiller

I think 5900X is a good choice, but I'd also like to see the 5600X tested.

Wompy

How about the difference between one and two ccd units

Curt Wendt

I think the the 5600X is going to be the new sweet spot for gaming. It looks like it'll be the best value and so I'm sure it'll be the most popular. I feel like it makes the most sense to cover what the majority will likely be using.

BigAL268

I like the 5800X! I know it's not the Popular Choice, but I like to Root for the Underdog!! LOL!

VeritronX

I want to see 5800X because it seems to hold the highest clocks under full load.. also with auto oc +200 enabled because the rated max boost seems to be limiting it a little.

Dustin Carpenter

I vote 5900x as this is likely to be the most popular part among the enthusiast community. 5600x users are less likely to be tuning memory and the 5800x just isn't going to sell well based on it's pricing.

Joseph Du

I think both the 5900x and the 5600x would be nice to see if you are getting enough sleep. It would be great to see how having 1 vs 2 ccd changes the effects of fater memory kits.

EvilRick

You have always been my favorite.

Jonathan

I think 5600x would make the most sense?

Gregory Lee Parks

I voted for 5600X because it seems like the best value/gaming CPU, and likely to get the widest adoption.

J.Vis

No one is buying the 5800X... 5900X if you’re only doing one
