Hey everyone, it's Early Access Day, it's a Musical Autopsy of maybe the biggest music group in the world, so let's just get to it. Enjoy!

For the first time ever, BTS winds up on Doc Buckley's cutting table. The K-Pop Boyband returns to music after a 4 year hiatus (and some mandatory military service), has their music grown with them? Or are they still metaphorically wearing water wings in the shallow end?

Ehhhh… their music is… inoffensively bland. Always has been. I didn’t expect much different from them. They know their fans will lap it up.

Given how the Korean government funds kpop as a tool of cultural diplomacy, I'm surprised they didn't give them some sort of exemption. Those four years seemed to really hurt them and the reception for their new stuff was not as warmly welcomed or critically successful as their old stuff.

I don't know how well they're doing in South Korea, or if the Korean government cares how well they're doing overseas (obviously if the song is in English someone cares a little, HYBE or someone), but it was kinda surprising that it only got 1 week at the top of the Hot 100 before getting dropped down a spot, while Ella Langley took her spot back (with a song that's now 6 months old).

Actually that's incorrect. The album is doing great in sales and streaming. It's some of the Koreans who are upset because not every song is in the Korean language.

Ah ok. I saw their big comeback show in Korea fell below expectations and their literal stock went down. So I that pessimism didn't last

The delivery on “no… no that would be silly” made me laugh so hard 😂

"...wasted opportunity to show some real growth... " The pictures of them should be enough to show the corporate machine behind them is trying to keep them in a Jackson 5/Menudo stasis. I'm reminded of the South Park episode where Mickey Mouse is controlling the Jonas Bros.
