Hey everyone, it's Early Access Day! This week's video is one that I've been thinking about for probably 5 years now, and I hope this'll maybe give you a little more understanding as to how I approach my own work while still being an entertaining video. Enjoy!

A slightly different video from your favorite Canadian rant comedian this week, as Buckley pays tribute to Norm Macdonald. Netflix is putting out a documentary this month, but what that documentary won't tell you is all the lessons that aspiring comedians as well as ALL content creators could learn from the works of my all-time favorite stand-up.

I can't believe it's been 5 years since he died. Time flies in Dystopia.

I’ve pretty much tapped out on YouTube creators. Minus your stuff which I just watch on here. Everyone has become the same irritating being. I have to skip ads to get to a video and then skip ads that are a part of the video. And at this point most of the content isn’t even worth my time.

On Norm, I used to watch SNL just for those weekend updates. They were the best part of the show. Once he was booted, what the hell was the point of SNL. I think most of their sketches sucked. I haven’t watched SNL in over twenty years now. Norm was the best.

A Dose of Buckley

Yeah for me that era of SNL with Norm was pretty much just me watching for Weekend Update, him doing Bob Dole, and then eventually the Celebrity Jeopardy sketches. I certainly wasn't watching for Chris Kattan!

I forgot about that guy. I wonder why? Rob Schneider also. He’s the person I want for my knowledge today 🥸.

Interesting Norm is definitely one of my favorite comedians along with Carlin, which some of your darker posts reminds me a bit of both of their styles

I know the Established Titles thing is a scam, but I hear you can buy land in Saskatoon and become a legal mounty.

A Dose of Buckley

Yeah but you do have to ride a horse backwards through the land first to seal the deal.

Norm had some great moments - my first exposure to his work was as Death on Family Guy and as Yaphit on The Orville. In both of those he was an absolute scene stealer. His bit on the Saget roast was hilarious in how he basically did a f**k you to Comedy Central. Absolutely agree with the lessons imparted here. One of the things making me sick of YouTube is the sponsorship shills in every second video - the only one I can tolerate is Count Dankula, who turns it into a joke where his writers make him say stupid shit in the sponsorship

The Kitchen Stink

To this day I love quoting Norm's lines from Billy Madison. Thank you for dropping the video in "......October?"

A Dose of Buckley

It's nudie magazine day! Haha this was entirely unintentional but yeah what a great reference

HelterSeltzer

Norm really is one of those guys you can shoot the shit and have a drink with and just have hilarious night.

Shumiry

I actually laughed out loud at that damn joke. Good stuff.

It does seem crazy, like I know it happened after COVID but if someone asked I would be like "I dunno, 2 or 3 years ago?"

Respect, I tried to watch more Norm back when I was obsessed with consuming George Carlin's content ages ago. Not really my thing but the "No offense but it sounds like some fucking commie gobbledygook" got into my dictionary forever, that whole interview was gold. I prefer your content to his, take it as a compliment or me being a moron who doesn't know comedy, either is fine with me
