Hey everyone, it's Early Access Day, and I was ORIGINALLY going to release a Musical Autopsy this week, but we'll save it for next Saturday because I HAD to cover maybe the most insane story of this year (and that might be saying something). Enjoy!

Every week, a story comes out where you go "well, this might be the most insane thing I've ever seen happening in a first world country", and THEN it gets topped. Will this one ever be bested? Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced that they would livestream the public execution of Nidal Hasan, the 2009 Fort Hood shooter. A look at the reactions and Trump's flip-flopping on whether or not he'd allow it.

The funny thing is I would have easy access to live stream the execution. but I can't access porn hub in my state.

My sister was telling me how dystopian this all felt with a live execution. With the details though, it all just feels really stupid. And apparently dystopian is just regressing back to how the world used to be in a lot of ways. There’s too many fake tough people in the world. It’s really annoying at this point.

Also, what the fuck is with the appeal process. I’ve always thought this. How many appeals does someone get? Shouldn’t it be one. What’s the hold up on the shit. I live in such a dumb country and I really wish it wasn’t so dumb. Good thing he didn’t commit the crime when he was 80.

Yeah I don't get it, especially when I think HE said he wanted to be put to death and there was no question he did it, he was caught and brought down WHILE DOING IT. My guess was maybe that in this case, they'd want to delay it so long that people (like me) would forget it ever even happened, then they'd just carry out the execution quietly, and that'd be the best way to avoid any martyrdom. THEN, Hegseth goes "We're gonna do it and we're gonna broadcast it for the whole world to see YEEEHAW!" and now he's back in the public eye.

Priorities! You can gamble on 20 different apps, watch a man's death, but by God if you see a naked lady, send the police!

There’s a possibility I heard about this when it happened, but it was so fucking long ago. When my sister mentioned it to me I thought it was a recent event that occurred. You know, because as you said, there’s so many mass shootings here. How can you know which one it even was?

A very wise and distinguished youtuber once suggested that for the death penalty, the criminal should be drowned in a toilet after the victims family had all used it. Maybe they should do that?

I’m actually surprised he was taken in alive you would think after going full Unabomber he would have gotten a bullet to the head at the massacre

Well, I think they shot him with intent to end his life but he survived. They typically shoot center-mass so you don't miss, and I guess in this case they paralyzed him. NOW, why they didn't just finish him off after, or at some other point? I guess they thought they wanted to "serve justice", but in a case like that, it just gave him more power.

All joking aside this is a symptom of a broken and unjust society. The reason “shithole” countries like Pakistan do public executions is that it gives its citizens the perception that they have justice and order. The extreme and shocking display of violence fills the belief of “our government isn’t corrupt look at what happens to those who break laws, they get executed”. Trump and his government are by far the most openly corrupt and illegal government the USA will probably ever have. I feel like part of this motivation for this live stream wasn’t to demonstrate power. But to signal order and justice.

You can have as many valid appeals you want as long as the courts feel like there's a good merit to them. They won't listen to your appeal if it has no merit or you are clearly gaming the system, but it's a part of the justice system in America and it always takes time. And since death as a punishment is finite, and too many people were sentenced to death for crimes they actually didn't commit but because some cop wanted to fulfill a quota, the long delay ends up being a positive for everyone (the State and the victims.)

I recall watching the execution of Saddam Hussein on YouTube (imagine the demonetization that would happen now) and really wishing I hadn’t. I immediately realized that there are some things nobody needs to see.

I have always been center, but have moved a lot more left in the last 5 years or so, but I have always been pro death penalty when we can confirm it is the right person. Certain people don't deserve a second chance, but this isn't a third world country, I don't need to see it.
