If this is her running at him, to what...embrace him or make up or whatever...It basically just feels like she's so HOPELESSLY DEPENDENT, that she's basically just going back to for her previous "comfort boy", despite everything, all because Augustus "left". It ain't sit right.

Maybe I judged Augustus too harshly for his acting like Lucy's Michael exposure needed to be that strictly policed. I really underestimated how quickly she'd come crawling back for more.

As much as people will hate this, it needs to happen Them staying away from eachother clearly isn't working This isn't about leaving a traumatic past behind anymore, this is about facing your troubles instead of running away from it. The guild they both cary from hurting eachother is not going to go away unless they come together and are able to hear eachother out without pointing fingers.

It was always bound to happen with these two, but it is the what comes next is what we have always wondered. We were told that the rest of this arc is going to be a wild ride, and it is likely part of that will stem from this interaction.

Someone who has a been a long time silent reader. I’ll say my piece. I think I’ve come to realize that Lucy never wanted to separate from Mike. And vice versa. You know when despite it all- you care for someone? That’s her. She covers it up with being harsh, or emotionally distant. I think there can be some truth to her trauma bonding because Mike was always there for her when something happened. But it’s evident that Augustus is there now, her friends are there now. It’s not that she CAN’T go to them, it’s that she doesn’t WANT to- she wants to go to Mike. She wants Mike specifically with all her problems. She wants him to understand. Him to console her. She doesn’t want anyone else. I think that’s the real issue with their relationship. They’ve both done things to hurt each other for sure. But I think she FELT she had to stay away from him not because she actually wanted to. Her issue is that she doesn’t truth others the way she trusts Mike. I think that was evident in the animatic -

"when you don’t wanna cry in front of someone but that just makes you cry harder" Ahaha... God, I... Yeah. That hits deep. I know exactly how that feels and it's not fun. But in the right circumstances, with the right people, it really can be cathartic to just... let go and be vulnerable in that moment. No needing to try and be strong, just having a true, mask off interaction with someone. Ideally someone you trust, who you can confide in without remorse. I just... don't know if Mike can really be that anchor for Lucy in this moment, at least not without drowning himself in the process.

Finally someone says it. I feel like the last couple chapters a lot of people were quick to make it all mikes fault for how things turned out in the last couple chapters mind you Mike has been completely keeping his distance for the longest until Augustus intervened. This time around it looks like Lucy is the one that will break the silence between her and Mike and hopefully finally have a healthy deep conversation about their troubles and for the god almighty that Augustus doesn’t decide to pop up like he is the super hero. But part of me also wants to see Mike not go along with it, he knows well how Lucy becomes heavily emotionally dependent when she’s in need. But then again this is the same two cats that have been heavily dependent on each other since the beginning of this comic

I'm glad she recognizes that them being apart and not atleast being friends is destroying them. I just know Mike is gonna try and push her away. I'm not sure if he'll succeed or initially try but realize he wants this too. But we'll have to see. This all just wasn't working, deep down I think they need eachother. But their problem before was they didn't communicate, alongside a wedge getting added into the mix. Sandy. Both have grown, both have learned their own flaws, so maybe they have a better arrangement after all this.... if this works out. I've said before their relationship was toxic, but it was due to the fact Lucy didn't want to accept change and couldn't see she was effectively holding Mike back from his own life and making him her rock. On the other side Mike had been her rock/favourite person for so long that it began to build some resentment. Always having to worry about her, wondering if he hangs out with others will she get upset and all that. And whenever he tried to talk to her about it she'd realize it and just distract in some way sometimes with violence, other times with other distractions. It was toxic cause neither could change their reltionship and grow. Mike was held back and Lucy simply refused. Which is why Sandy added a wedge. All that combined with them perhaps being in love with eachother, but Mike also liking another girl just made it all blow up.

All of this. Also, looking back. I can now see why he became so invested in his relationship with Sandy to the point it became obsessive. During the years when Sandy was absent from his life. He spent a lot of time putting effort into his relationships with those in his friend group. Yet, even with how much time and effort he put in. Mike always knew that if everyone had to choose between him and Lucy one day, they would pick Lucy without hesitation. And he wasn't wrong; they did choose her over Mike. They dropped him like a bad habit in exchange for Lucy as soon as the opportunity arose without question. They didn't even question it for a second, although the majority of them still don't even know what happened between Lucy and Mike in the past. Which is pretty messed up when you realize they did this for someone who never put as much energy into maintaining their friendships as Mike had. We can bring Sandy into the equation, yet even then, before and after. Lucy's effort is still minimal compared to Mike's. Honestly, when I think about it. The only times I remember her really going all in for her other relationships are right before she tried to take her own life. Which she did as a way to leave everyone with one last happy memory of her. And right now, as she's spiraling and stretching herself thin in an attempt to appease everyone despite her own deteriorating mental health. And her real feelings have been slowly slipping through the cracks as a result, since she keeps making snippy little comments at everyone. Since she doesn't really want to be there with any of them. Which, we know, is mostly due to her not being able to fully trust anyone due to her own insecurities. Some of which other people in their friend group have played into and helped solidify for her. It's sad to say, but Mike is truly the only person we've ever seen her actively try maintaining a friendship with. She only took David's offer solely because he offered it during an otherwise very intense moment. Also, because it felt good to hurt Mike back thanks to Augustus's encouragement to take revenge.

Ya, I can agree with all that. Mike tried hard, it's just his way of coping with stress is usually anger and even violence. Cause he doesn't want to keep facing his past mistakes. Everyone wants to be nice to Lucy, but none of them seem to realize she never really cared for them that much at all. She actively tried not to be friends with them. I remember a long time ago she was interested in Paulo, but when they met after a summer break and he'd gone into his flirty personality she instantly lost all trust in him. By far, Paulo is the one person she could trust at this point since he's done alot of personal growth, but she genuinely does not trust them, partially cause her dreams are effecting her perception of them. She accepted Davids offer, yes, because it would hurt Mike. But I think it was so Augustus would finally live his own life with kids his age and improve his life. I am genuinely wondering if she's close to another attempt when I see that. She hates the people she's around now and it's all so Augustus will feel comfortable leaving her alone. Gives me vibes she once again is trying to distance herself from people again, but in this panicked moment she is trying depseratly to get Mike back, the one person she trusts, her favourite person, someone she felt safe and trusting with for so long. I've said before, I think she has forgiven him somewhat, even after they kissed and almsot got together. It's just lingering feelings that caused her to accept David offer. And honestly, Mike friend group dropping him like that looks really bad on them all, especially for Lucy who i feel they only swapped for cause they all want to make her feel welcome after.... well you know, her attempt and going away for awhile. But yes, also cause Mike has been very difficult to be around for awhile now. Paulo wanted to reach out but was guilt tripped by Lucy..... he really should of told her to screw off and that things changed since he made that promise. Guess we'll have to see what happens.
