Behind the Scenes: Unspoken Rule’s original sketches (Patreon)
Content
Let’s look at some before and afters from Unspoken Rule, why don’t we!
Different pose from Mike in the last panel! I thought it looked wayyyy too similar to panel 4, and panel 4 appears so close to the final panel to make the similarities jarring, so I changed it in the end.
Ahh, when Paulo was giving Daisy the cold shoulder and Daisy breaks down and apologises to him.. truly a controversial moment. The original dialogue was way more overt and romantic. “I never want to lose you..” is a bit much Daisy, HAHA. We changed it to something more.. platonic.
Paulo’s little sigh and expression of longing is one of those expressions that I desperately wanted to recreate for the final art, but you can’t always do that with sketches. It’s such a good sketch. Look at it. Sigh.
Hah, I originally made Abbey the character to get hit in panel seven! I wonder why I changed that! Maybe because I didn’t want to just draw the same characters over and over.. naturally you’d sometimes interact with other classmates who aren’t your friend. So I made the person talking to Mike a random kid.
Aww man I like the sketch of the flip-off panel more. This was a very difficult panel to draw for some reason.. I just couldn’t get the expression the way I wanted it.. and due to focusing so much on that the pose ended up becoming stiff! I love the little arch she’s making with her back in the sketch! Foolish me. Well here it is so you can enjoy it!
