Lil_Brimstone

You were just writhing in pain instead of helping me!

arjay

That day must have been a fever dream for a lot of people

PAM

Didn’t Paulo get his ass beat?

Becca

Please goodness, let the healing begin

Fiver

The idea of the others just not even remembering didt even cross my mind

Metal Raven

Tell it like it is Lucy!

Sidneyena

That's the funny thing about traumatic experiences, it affects people differently. Poor Lucy got the worst of it while Sue seems to barely remember. Yowch.

SomeColourMage

just sat back and watched. all crumpled on the ground over there

Angel

FINALLY! I’ve been waiting years for Lucy to tell them how she felt about what Michael put her through. She’s got a point, NONE of them checked in, or bothered to stop Michael from treating her horribly.

Nanrite

I honestly don’t remember who stopped them from hurting Lucy more. Wasn’t Mike AND Paulo beat up?

MCZetra

Sue: “Damn…what did Mike do this time?”

justin ODell

I don't think that's the instance here. I think this is her remembrance of chapter 15: out for blood

Blaster824

I wouldn't put it past Sue to forget as that was 4 years ago, but at the same time, this is probably one of the worst responses to give to Lucy in such a vulnerable state, especially since she has been feeling resentment all this time for them ever since. I'm hoping Lucy opens up more to Sue and explains herself so she can have a better understanding of her inner turmoil, but the other half of me expects Lucy to shut herself off again and assume Sue doesn't care.

esinololly

Please let these two come to an understanding and become accountability buddiesssssss

GarryB

Lucy's victim mentality is really taking hold here. She completely forgets that EVERYONE was a victim in that situation, she wasn't alone in the trauma. Hopefully Sue acts rationally to steer this conversation in a healthier way.

M0use

...OOOHHHH!!

Steven Marshall

Either Sue genuinely doesn't know what she's talking about (the more likely alternative), or Sue also got PTSD from the incident and she's actively repressed the memory to keep herself from spiralling. The latter would make for a really interesting plot development, even if it's a really depressing one.

Sablix

yikes!

Lyr

You mean Chapter 14: confrontation?

Elizabeth Hunter

Ooof, when you pretend to be fine in the aftermath so hard that you managed to convince everyone it wasn't that bad, but then you realize it affected you WAY more than you thought, and now everyone is confused and hurt by your anger, because they genuinely thought it never affected you at all 😭😭😭 God, these kids are a mess; this is such beautiful writing

Brandino

I’m confused did Mike help Lucy in that moment or??

Elmanii

I don't think that Sue forgot or has some kind of repressed memories from the incident. It's more likely that Sue doesn't know what Lucy is talking about because she's trying to think of a time she's ever left her friend alone in a dangerous situation. Which she hasn't. The trauma is likely making Lucy remember what happened that day differently. Yet, Sue definitely attempted to stand up to Alejandro and his gang and got seriously hurt as a result. She didn't just stand by and let anything happen, like Lucy's trying to claim during an emotional outburst that's the result of bottling that kind of trauma up for so long. We can understand why Lucy feels resentment towards everyone who was there. That still doesn't mean her trauma gets to supersede everyone else's. Lucy's friends can choose to understand where she's coming from, because that incident traumatized all of them in one way or another. However, they have no obligation to accept repeated mistreatment from Lucy, regardless of whatever memory distortion she may be experiencing as a result.

justin ODell

You are 100% correct I got my notes all jumbled up.

Maya

Lucy being selfish and unfair as usual.. literally paulo and sue both tried to help and got hit, daisy froze which is a normal ass trauma response? Realistically what did you want them to do?

Maya

He did

M.L. Scotland

Just came back from rereading confrontation. I can sort of understand where Lucy is getting her logic from. Yes everyone minus daisy was injured. But ultimately, despite getting pummeled, Mike saved her and they BOTH jumped Alejandro and they got the worst of the beating and…more. In her eyes, the rest of them did just watch. Paulo ,however, was unconscious. Sue and Daisy were terrified. Daisy is not a fighter in the least. They were all out of sorts. Up until the fight, she had just heard Paulo sexualize her and Daisy insulted her. During the fight Lucy temporarily was dazed. During that gap where she was in over her head she forgot that they were injured too and rationalized that them not coming to her aide was out of spite. She is remembering the events out of order and that the rest of them simply moved on, tucking it away as a bad day they don’t talk about.

SCD

Uh-oh, looks like Sue is going to find out what really happened.

Kiall Vun Myeret

You desperatly need to reread the story, people did check in on her Paulo checked in on her, she let her brother push him away Even Mike himself checked in on her, she used lily to push him away

Kiall Vun Myeret

So not only is she blaming her friends for having the very natural freeze response to a dangerous situation when they were like 12 The one person that actually did come to her aid she has hurt more then any of the others and only could bring herself to say sorry after driving him to anorexia She pushed every single one of the people that wanted to help her away and on top of everything she made the active choice to go stalk a person who was associated with the source of her trauma who, while ending up as a good friend, is still a constant reminder of it I know we can't really blame this response, this is the trauma speaking. But it all boils down to Lucy not choosing to have experienced the traumatic event but she is choosing to suffer from it She and everyone around her She wants to be a victim

Kiall Vun Myeret

To be fair how many of us had to go back and reread confrontation Hell if you read the comic from the start and skip confrontation it takes quite a bit before you realised you missed something It festered a long time before it really grasped Lucy which probably explains why she is misremembering it so much

Kiall Vun Myeret

Everybody but Daisy who was frozen in fear tried to fight back

Rocky Wolfknight

This right here. It doesnt give you a free pass on how you can talk and treat others.

Kirk Findlay

Ya I'm getting the feeling Lucy mushed around the events in her head and her nightmares took over what actually happened. Sue did try, it wasn't nearly as effective as Mike drunken brawling, but Sue did try. So either Lucy doesn't consider that 'trying enough' or the events have been changed in her head by her nightmares and she remembers it that way instead. I believe Paulo also tried to help but got smacked too. Daisy was the only one who froze up and did nothing and that's just because Daisy is not a confrontational person and isn't use to any sort of danger. She was quite meek back then. But she's grown a bit of a backbone since. Mike obviously was the most notable to stand up for Lucy, but he was drunk at the time and he actually had a bit of self defense training. So it's obvious why he did the most and actually managed to help. But I suppose Lucy messed it all up in her head at some point. Maybe because of just time and repressing it to some degree. or because she wants more ammo to not like people idk. She's taking her frustration out on people unfairly, and that's more her issue. Not uncommon among people who suffer trauma is that they push people away. But it's not an excuse, people do not have to just sit there and take it.

I think you may need to reread through the chapters, Confrontation was the chapter where the incident happened. Everyone already knows what happened between her and Michael. On top of that it wasn’t just Mike hurting Lucy, it was also Lucy hurting Mike. Both are at fault, Lucy was the first to fall before Mike ended up mentally collapsing later on in the chapters. And here Lucy isn’t blaming them about what happened with her and Mike, she is most likely talking about when she got beat and SA’d by Alejandro and everyone stood still while it happened although they did try to stop it as Paulo was the first to step in and got knocked unconscious right after sue tried and got beat up. Lucy is in every right to feel how she feels with her trauma, but she is actively pushing and holding resentment towards the group that has been actively trying to help her after all the efforts SHE put in to push mike on the edge of his mental collapse after her so called knight Augustus made things worse by plummeting Mike to his lowest. And somehow she still blames the group for not being there for her when they are currently are being there for her after leaving Mike to believe he is a irredeemable monster that is better off cut of from the image. So Lucy isn’t as innocent as Mike either. But then again this response from Lucy is understandable but the way she is going about it is wrong.

Rocky Wolfknight

I really hope the way she and August did that to mike comes back bites them hard. David included It doesn't excuse what mike did was right to Lucy. BUT HOW IS WHAT LUCY AND AUGUST DID JUSTIFY THAT?

Heartbeat

Some of these comments are kind of awful. I'm not saying Lucy is acting rational on this page. But she's also a god damn victim of sexual assault, like, no shit she's not acting right at this moment. That's what trauma does to people! She's not "wanting" to be a victim. She IS a victim! God, the lack of even the slightest amount of empathy for her in some of these comments is gross.
