Yes! Zero room for misunderstanding! My favorite!

transopossum17

FINALLY she starts talking about the ROOT of it all

PAM

Now we're getting to it.

SomeColourMage

you did nothing, except literally get thrown into the garbage

Zambies

;____; oh Lucy…

DreamerKay

Good job Luce ♥️ Come on Sue, don't minimize this. She's finally opening up to you. Be more thoughtful with what you say next..

arjay

I mean Paulo tried but yeah Mike did lock in

Metal Raven

It would seem Lucy didn’t learn a damn thing about the bacteria that crawls on our skin…

Fiver

Damn Sue did kinda forget

Arctic

People deal with trauma very differentally yall, Sue probably coped by leaving it all behind or talking about it in the moment when it really fucked her up in a healthy manner. I dont think shes minimizing /at all/ shes just genuinely surprised about this being the root of everything thats made lucy upset for months now in their timeline.

Firelilly027

Ok wait im confused. What is this about a museum? I think im missing context, can someone fill me in?

Mandy Seley

Head back and reread chapter 14: Confrontation

Maya

Hey Lucy can we have a normal conversation where you express your feelings clearly and then hear Sue out and try to understand her perspective about what happened as she would to you or is this too hard for you

esinololly

I'm glad that Lucy is FINALLY talking about this for once even if not the MOST favorable situation!! But it's something!!! Please let it all out Lucy!! Go girl! If there's one of your friends who will actually take anything from this outburst, it would be Sue!

Antares

Yesssss delicious, just what I wanted >8) Now I'm dying to know what may have happened at Lucy's other school to see if any of the feelings from that are getting twisted up in this

Kauphy

I want to reread this part of the story. Does someone know which chapter this was?

Chapter 14: confrontation Surprisingly early in the story

Xiro

Ah so complete misremembering and misplaced blame. I feel like it's super late in the story for this to be the root of her trauma. I had to reread several chapters just to confirm what happened, and this is pretty unfair of her. Things won't be fixed after just this conversation but at least the course can be corrected.

Kiall Vun Myeret

After rereading confrontation there is a small detail that Lucy says she couldn't hear a thing (her being deaf in one ear) so that explains even more why she felt so isolated from the rest. She couldn't see them, she couldn't hear them. At that moment it really was for her that they weren't there

mobsterseeker

This is super gnarly and upsetting but probably the best way things could be falling apart right now. I'm not even optimistic that this right now can be a productive conversation, Lucy is so triggered and lost in memories right now and her head is a mess. I don't think she's capable of calming herself down and really talking right now, she's just kept all this inside too long and it's too painful. But maybe now that the truth is finally out in the open, it won't be impossible for a better calmer talk to come of this in the future. It's not pretty or fair but it's honestly extremely common to struggle with feelings of irrational anger, paranoia, and betrayal as a part of PTSD like this, especially when young. The weight of 'why did this happen' becomes too much to bear and shifts into 'who let this happen'. Whether it's friends, parents, god, the world, yourself, or all of the above. You try to rationalize, you try to find someone to blame so that you can feel like no longer putting your trust in them makes you safer and you can tell yourself that's how it'll never ever happen again.

Avian

'It was a miracle Mike got up' "Lucy, if it was a miracle ONE of us got up-"

SomeColourMage

based on the main difference between Mike and the rest of the group during that fight, clearly more of them should have got drunk beforehand. skill issue tbh

SCD

So that's why they took the train, and ended up in the bad part of town.

Alec

All that martial arts practice mixed with liquid courage really did wonders in the moment.

Avian

the crucible of their connection!

Kauphy

How is she misremembering…? They all sat there and watched while it happened.

Kirk Findlay

Yup, it's what most people thought. Sue 'just stood there and did nothing' when alejandro attacked her. With the added part that Sue was trying so hard to do a project and its her fault they were there at all. I'm not gonna say that Lucy hasn't had her memories messed up by time and trauma. That might explain whyb she sees things this way, but Sue and Paulo both tried to help. They were totally ineffective, but they did try. Only Daisy froze up. And well.... Daisy is not one for conflict, especially back then. I saw someone say it might be because she is deaf in one ear and it blocked her from hearing them. But if I remember Lucy purposely chose to make herself a target on behalf of everyone else, or antagonized the guy even further for something. I'm not saying what happened wasn't traumatizing, it was, obviously. But acting like she was left behind or they just watched is unfair to say. And I'm glad Sue wasn't willing to just let Lucy be mean and yell at her. It's also kinda wrong of Lucy to think the event only effected her. People handle stress and trauma differently. Obviously this has stuck with her for a long time and she can't quite forget about it. I feel like she thinks nobody is actually her friend so they obviously stepped aside and did nothing cause they weren't her friends. But other people move on by just moving on. They don't think about it and move on. She clearly got the worst of it so it's ok that she has the hardest time moving on. But acting liek it only effected her and that her perception of the events is the correct one so she can be mad at everyone is wrong too. Atleast now it's out there and Sue can atleast try to explain that Lucy's perception was wrong.
