This is the last one, I swear!

I'm considering trying my hand at original fiction, though it would be below all three current stories in importance.

If I do write something original, the story would be Patreon-exclusive until the (first?) book is finished.

So: If I was to write original fiction, which genre should i go for?

I'll allow multiple votes here, and if you do vote, I'd like to know why you made your choice (and any ideas if you have them lol).

I'd do historical since it's your first original fiction. Gives you some backbone to fill the story from.

I'm not unfamiliar with steampunk but I'm also not familiar with steampunk due to not reading a lot of them...but generally steampunk is all three right?

I would love to see the back story's of Ur characters original. Lives

I’d agree with J A.D here: if it were my first attempt at wholly original content, I’d start with something in a world that already exists: i.e., a historical fiction or a low fantasy with an Earth setting. As for my personal suggestions, I’d love it if you used an RPG system, and I’m super interested in stories that involve travelling back in time with modern knowledge retention. However, it’s your story- do what you want! I’ll read it any which way you write it, because you’re awesome.

Combination of historical fantasy and high fantasy

I pretty much think I’d be all about whatever you wrote as long as it somewhat stuck to what you built your audience on. That’s not to say I think it even has to be your typical isekai/gamelit story as long as there’s a clear demarcation to progression. That progression is the more important thing in my mind, and can be done with most genres as long as there’s some kind of magic involved. Although even then if you did sci-fi you could have nano bots in the bloodstream, biotics, and bionics to upgrade oneself, and a neural link to the brain that explains a system. I voted steampunk with the expectation of the story containing cool magic, pre-camera-tech, and plenty of worldbuilding. A world that one could take inspiration from the tv series; arcane, which is a must watch for any writer thinking about maybe writing a madness arch for villains or heroes. Sorry for hitting every base, but like with the last poll, I really couldn’t pick just one.

I like the idea of high fantasy science fiction. Easy example is Star Wars in that it is both.

Lynxarius

I'd say high fantasy for me because despite liking at least one thing from all the others I usually have an easier time getting into a fantasy setting, but that's entirely personal opinion. Though on the topic of original fiction by a fanfic author I highly recommend Wish Upon the Stars by Malcom Tent on Questionable Questing.

I can't tell if my vote was counted or not. As every time I vote for some reason the check mark disappears and the percentage goes back down like one second after I vote. Is this an error and is anyone else experiencing this problem??

I'm more into science fiction personally as I've seen so much high fantasy in manga and TV shows over the last 15 years that I've been kind of turned off to it. As pretty much most manga and TV show has been like 97% high fantasy for like last 15 years. Well on the other side science fiction shows in most forms of entertainment have been dying. I use to like both about the same by the way but after so many years of so much high fantasy media being pumped into the market and so little science fiction I feel starved for science fiction.
