Not listened to the whole episode yet Marc, but I think you are conflating, or possibly confit - flating, Disco Duck (US novelty single) and Dooby Duck's Disco Truck (European hell-vision of blank eyed swaying puppet creatures). * Edit - show was DOOBY'S DUCK TRUCK which I guess is a precursor to the BANG BUS.

I always think Piper essentially stopped working when he got to WWF and his style changed a bit. Some of his Mid Atlantic, Georgina and San Fran stuff (if you can find it) is blood and thunder and really great. He was probably already broken down by 1984. I love Piper but do think he performed like he’d had a lobotomy in WCW

must tell you guys about an *incredibly* fun Hogan cage match that I recently discovered: Hulkster vs Kamala for the WWF ch'ship, circa 1986! it took place in Boston or possibly Philly, or -- fuck it -- Toronto maybe? in any case, it instantly became my new favorite Hulk Hogan match; it's a 10/10 showcase of the things Hulkster excelled at. anyway, some friends and I had gotten together to celebrate the career of Jim 'Kamala' Harris and that cage match was on the card we'd put together. by the end of the night we had all, to a man, concluded that the Undertaker owed his entire WWF career to Kamala, and Kamala's peerless selling of the gimmick. I'm happy to go a step further and say the entire WWF owes its enduring success to the early contributions of Jim Harris. we won't hold that against Jim though. nobody's perfect.

Disco Duck was a 1970s hit by Rick Dees. The duck puppet I think you are referring to is Dooby Duck from Dooby Ducks Disco Bus (which was renamed Doobys Ducks Disco Truck) which was a CBBC show from around 1989 to 1991. It's ridiculous how much I care about this but I was about 14/15 years old when Dooby Duck was a thing and I found it absolutely terrifying. It was as unsettling as hell. Like Jimmy Saville in duck form (which makes me think Dooby's catchphrase should have been 'Now hen, now hen') ...Anyway, I'm very glad to say that now that I'm 50 years old, I'm just about over it 😂. 'Dooby Dooby Dooby Dooby Dooby Quack Quack' to you both. Keep up the great work ❤️👍

As a Glaswegian thank you, it’s so funny seeing the end of a night of great music if the artist says “glas-gow” they get booed to fuck regardless of the previous hour, it’s amazing.

There's an alternate timeline where Marc accidentally bought Progress and Pete's headlining in a match vs his da.

Marc, I think you’re being incredibly generous to Piper for assuming *he* knew how to pronounce Glasgow🤣
