Literally every match Austin had in ECW was against Mikey Whipwreck. He cut promos but he only had 2 or 3 actual matches in ECW and they were all against Mikey. You're right in saying that WWE does focus a lot on Austin in ECW. They just never mention the only opponent that he ever had there.

MIKEY WHIPRECK! Finally somebody has covered my favorite wrestler from the mid nineties. Living in Hershey PA and loving to watch his harrowed existence in ECW, was what rekindled my love for wrestling. Finally getting his due!

One thing not mentioned about Whipwreck’s run is the heat he got from this match. Reportedly, his match with Kidman was so good it got heat from Ray and Vincent for outshining them. And thus he was punished. Crazy - imagine doing a good as well as possible and you get the rug pulled for being too good. What a toxic workplace WCW was!

Not that this matters for absolutely anything at all. But I was watching the world cup final on TV in Canada and I think it did actually feature both Buffer brothers. Each team got their own Buffer brother I believe to do an intro that everyone politely tolerated.

I think in UK slapjacks would more commonly be referred to as blackjacks or saps. Due to the informal nature of them I think regional slang could provide a variety of names

If you like Danhausen you should check this out as it's a season of the maddest wrestling product ever the Bonzi of Japanese Wrestling PRO WRESTLING HUSTLE the mad show that brought Razor Ramone Hard Gay to the world with it's collection of Characters that looked like the 1990's Street Fighter Movie the spirit of HUSTLE has continued in both DDT and Stardom Japan but this is the most whacky collection of wrestling and endlessly enjoyable stuff. https://archive.org/details/puroresu-hustle

I actually had the VHS of uncensored as WCW there British releases were pretty bad the worst be FUTURE SHOCK the Great American Bash that included the double tournament for singles and tag teams but cut out all the other matches still watching 3 flair matches especially the one against Luger with Flair as the Face was pretty unique as was his match with the great Muta.

The Strokes were huge for me when they first came out. Made an indelible impact on me and the music I was listening. Helped me transition to new music from the stuff I did listen to. It can be hard to listen to then due to the nostalgia but I definitely will listen to them. Mikey Whipwreck had a look in ECW that I loved. It didn’t translate so well in WCW. It’s a shame he wasn’t used more.
