If you checked out our stream Friday or have been in one of the Discord team calls you would have heard us talking about testing a system for easily placing wood panels throughout the ship. The entire concept is being spearheaded by Robin, our lead researcher, and Matteo, one of our main modelers. A handful of other modelers and researchers are lending input. The goal is to use geometry nodes, pre-built styles of panels, and the curve of the ship's hull to easily create that curve sheer look without having to calculate the angle and distance on every panel (like someone must have done in 1911.)

It's complicated. There will probably be a combination of utilizing this tool and hand-manipulation of panels to get a finished result. But we're happy to report the initial test has been successful and we're moving onto finalizing the panels.

This will be heavily utilized with these basic panels. We can't stress enough how many of them were aboard the ship - practically every room had some form of these.

TLDR if you line them up along the ship, the detail follows the camber too. If you line them up along the breadth the detail follows the sheer. It doesn't add triangles or extra fluff.

Titanic: Honor & Glory

We don't want to re-invent the wheel when it comes to most things, but we totally want to save time when we can!

I remember shifting panels individually. Waiting five minutes on each for the deformed geometry to calculate. Which...didn't always happen correctly. I see a huge potential for optimization there: wouldn't the technique you're using mean, that the game would only need to load a small library of "prefabs" into memory?

been a while we seen some larger ALPHA updates on Patreon (besides new modell renders), short monthly update on the latest developments (what everyone is workin on) would be appreciated. What happened to the ROADMAP idea? Yes i follow on Discord too :)
