Hi all, Kyle here!As of yesterday (Saturday, June 25th), my little (giant) snowball of Demo 401 is officially done! The last things to actually make it in are glimpses of the Reciprocating and Turbine Engine Rooms. These rooms are NOT fully fitted out and are not fully accessible. You can only see the Turbine Room from the upper level and while you'll be able to get some fun views in the Reciprocating Room, it won't all be open. We're saving those full details and explorability for when they can be properly made for the Alpha. They are also surely full of missing details and some inaccuracies in what you can see/explore, but it should give you an idea of what these rooms were like and make a perfect and fitting cap to 401. Now, these and all the other new spaces imported or created for 401 are in Derek's hands. Don't expect 1.5 yet, though, as he still has work to do. However, with my snowball done, something else can now begin...

THE ALPHA!Well, I suppose it technically began a long time ago in a gal- but what I'm talking about is the Alpha Blockout. We've been hinting at it for a while, it will essentially form the backbone of the Alpha, the template by which the ship will be built, and a necessity for ensuring the thigns we've already made over the last year will be able to fit the ship correctly. The Blockout will feature all of the major structural elements of Titanic, from beams, frames, and decks to bulkheads, pillars, and webs. It's a necessity for ensuring the coming spaces will fit together and within the various curvatures of the ship, and conform to its structure. It will also help visualize that structure as it can be difficult to determine from 2D plans alone. I may post something more in-depth on the blockout concept at a later time. For now, the blockout is in its beginning stage, of which a couple of images are featured here. It's an outline of the hull made from lines plans, an outline I actually made way back in late 2019 when I was intending to make a new hull. Now it will be in service to the entire Alpha. With my 401 work finished, I can now fully focus on that Blockout, so expect to see the odd update from me on that process as it goes along.

One more thing: While I am now free to work on the Alpha Blockout, I must remind you all that Derek and James will still be working on Demo/Project 401 for some time, as the Alpha work that needs to be done right now is entirely in the modeling camp. You'll probably see a mix of updates for both 401 and the Alpha now. I may also share more on a couple of those last spaces that were done for 401 at a later time. Now, let's get Titanic built!

WOW first shot of the turbin engine room - love it

Dave

Thank you for the update, very much looking forward to demo 1.5 and alpha :)

Peden Harley

Very happy to see more engineering spaces! Looking forward to it!!!

Josh

Awesome! Excited to explore demo 1.5!

Phil Mckraken

F'kin legit!!! I visited the engine room they used in the movie, can't wait to see it in game 😁

Felix Wabnitz

Keep breathing ... Keep breathing ... ENGINE ROOM! YEAH!

Jake Rutigliano

I only hope we’re getting it in August.

Alan (cbc)

Like the second image. Casing inaccuracies aside, its the first time we have had a top view down onto one of the reciprocating engines.

Willem Louissen

Wow, can’t wait to explore the engine room having been a ships engineer myself…

Alexius

Finally! Those are great news!

Stephan86

😍😎😮🤗🥰😀😱

Jakob

Now we're talking. Combined machinery rooms and hopefully we get propeller shaft tunnels in the future as well. Outstanding and keep up the good work...

JL

Love the engin rooms! In the Alpha would ge great if we could run the engines using the original controles.

Kit Cheshire

In college I drew the triple expansion reciprocating steam engines in AutoCAD and Solidworks (and in Lego bricks). I cant wait to see the engines in their full glory!

Luke

This is fantastic work Kyle, I hadn't even considered you'd have these engines modelled to this extent at this point in time, well done sir, those babies look amazing in their natural habitat even at this early stage of their development. Can't wait to see them from the catwalk, really can't wait to see them running from the starting platform in the future.
