Since the Dark Matter Kickstarter is going so well, I thought I'd throw out the updated Ships chapter! We've revised many of the ship statistics, added a bunch of new ships, improved formatting everywhere, and revisited the exploration rules. Let us know what you think!

There are a few typos (for example Layshayan instead of Lakshayan, his instead of this, etc.). The ships and rules themselves are awesome. Also, will I have to wait for the book to find out what a Wrothian is?

S L Hall

Wrothrians appeared in Dark Matter races, from what I recall.

James Klein

should their be a listing or ruling of what makes a ship melee weapon?, or is that coming later?

Stacie Winters

Have you guys considered putting up some of your Dark Matter stuff on your Kickstarter as free previews for KS backers?

Ninja_Prawn

There's a whole 33-page sample book available on the KS. It's got a selection of information from several of these chapters - almost enough to run a game.

Does the space cowboys overcharge effect ship weapons

Ninja_Prawn

Hot Shot only applies to blasters. Check the weapon tables - ship weapons are not classed as blasters. Scratch that, I must have been reading the wrong table. Most ship weapons are blasters.

Mage Hand Press

Checked it -- ship weapons _do_ have the Blaster property, so it should work.

So I totally missed the Kickstarter. Is it too late for me to purchase any version of the final product/beta?

Mage Hand Press

Nope! In two or three weeks, you'll be able to preorder the book using BackerKit (I'll link it everywhere when it goes live.)

Isla Ross

Awesome! I don't know how I overlooked the Kickstarter, but I did manage to. So I am happy to hear it

Sean Barrentine

Is the book preorder going to be available as a physical copy, or pdf as usual?

I have a question about weapon proficiencies (I might just be being dumb though). You need proficiency with martial weapons to be proficient with ship weapons; does this mean all kinds of martial weapon, or do you need martial melee to get ship melee and martial ranged to get ship ranged weapons? Alternatively, do you have proficiency in ship weapons if you have proficiency in at least one martial weapon? Sorry if this is just me being dumb.

Mage Hand Press

If you have proficiency in all martial weapons, you get proficiency in ship weapons automatically. If you only get one or two martial weapons, you don't get ship weapon proficiency.
