My first viewing of this film was one of the best cinematic experiences I've ever had. Every year the Coolidge Corner theater in Boston has a 12 hour Halloween marathon of horror movies that lasts from midnight to noon. At 6 A.M. the theater put on a pristine print of The Hitcher (which I had never heard of before) and I was wide awake for the next 97 minutes. Watching movie sleep deprived was a surreal experience not unlike what C. Thomas Howell goes through in the film. Rutger Hauer's performance, the insane escalation of the story, and that last scene make The Hitcher an absolute masterpiece. So excited that you guys covered this!
