Well, I've rewritten about a third of the code into the new project...For those of you who don't know, non-coder explanation for why I hit the big red “rewrite” button. As the game grew, the code underneath it started looking like a fucking plate of spaghetti: stuff technically worked, but every new room or feature meant duct tape, prayers, and the risk of breaking three unrelated things. So I stopped, ripped out the messy core, and rebuilt it so the game’s brain has one clear map, one way to move around, and one place where rules live. Translation: future content won’t require ritual sacrifices to add.
The good news: the painful part is already done. I’ve rebuilt the foundation so adding new scenes, locations, minigames, and events is mostly clean copy-paste instead of rewiring the whole house every time I add a lightbulb. There’s still a bit of conversion left, but I'm past the “everything is on fire” phase.
While that’s wrapping up, I uploaded some new screenshots of locations you couldn’t visit before — not because I was teasing you, but because I literally didn’t have the renders yet. Now I do. Enjoy poking around, and thanks for sticking with me while I make sure this thing doesn’t collapse under its own ambition. It's a REALLY big project with quite a bit more under the hood than you might think. In fact, I don't know another game out there with quite as much going on. You may say that's crazy now, but that's only because you haven't seen what this baby can do yet. There's a LOT... And I mean a LOT of stuff jam packed into this game. Nothing is faked. None of the backgrounds are HDRI backdrops. Every tree is there. If you were to take the whole environment into Unreal Engine, you could walk from room to room, cabin to cabin, and outdoor location to outdoor location. You'll find hidden collectibles, objects to interact with, puzzles, secrets, trouble, music, I'm telling you, it's PACKED TO THE BRIM.Side note, that reminds me... Why this game doesn't go as quick as my other games... The underlying code base for this, like I said, is unlike anything I've seen in another ren'py game. I'm not tooting my own horn. Just matter-of-factly telling you, you could take the features and mechanics from 4 of the biggest games out there, and this one will still have more mechanics and features. You'll learn to believe that as the releases start to come out. :)
