This made me want to give James the biggest hug and just love him even more than I already do 🥺 I loved seeing him and the rest of them all so involved in such a personal conversation and it be so well received and in depth.

Odie

Erm daddies, please explain whilst in Ann summers I found a shitsngiggs butler outfit, hubby is not happy pmsl x

craig

Not to be rude. But this episode and the episode about rem and athletics shows how....much growth James has room for. This sounds like a controlling situation as opposed to OCD. The mind struggles for control when things dont go the way they imagine it even if it wasn't necessarily communicated

D_Roll

Did anyone elses subtitles go to German around 34 mins?

Ama Kwansima

Awww James, come for hug 🤗

Ama Kwansima

Alternatively, in that scenario, @James would you feel internally pissed if you know she wouldn’t mind? It just could be a situation where you want to fully own your actions with little to no influence from others

Ama Kwansima

Compromise can be a slippery slope where you can end up losing yourself so it’s important to have alignment with your partner

Ama Kwansima

What’s k2? Sounds like junior high school topics so like 7-9th grade

B3thbakes

I think its important to remember in the scenario.. it would be James girl.. he would be with someone who understands that work is the fun for him.. in that case.. he would feel secure to listen to a voice note and know she understands him

devin briggs

Is this 544 or 546? Why am I paying for this when they have more episodes released on YouTube before they release it on here??🤔

Aw james, as someone with autism i promise its ok. If you can explain to people why it matters to you - how it makes you feel when you cant respond to things because of "social norms" - the right people will understand. The thing you haven't had yet is the knowledge that you have autism - its ok to say it autism is actually pretty fun when you just own it. Im not saying just be an asshole, still try when you can but sit with specific individuals and say "why is it important to you that i dont do x, y or z? How does it make you feel?" And then explaIn to them how you feel in the experience. This is part of the self awareness journey - you become aware and then you tell people your experience, hear theirs and take each relationship and situation as they come. I promise its liberating to go "im a bit tism-y and it makes it really fucking hard for me to do these socially expected things" The right people will care to hear how you experience the world but the trick is you also have to find an interest in the experiences of others. This doesnt stem from anything this is classic autism.

Annie

Please do a log cabin where you learn about the different neurological conditions. You guys cant be talking on what OCD is and have the wrong idea completely OCD is debilitating and life altering - it is not control and order.

Annie

Autism in a very very simplified and relevant version means not understanding illogical social norms. This is clearly autism. Clearly NOT ocd.

Annie

And sometime compromise is taking time to understand eachothers experience. Not always taking an l

Annie

You lot have triggered the autistic woman 🤣🤣 please get educated so you can talk on this stuff safely and so james can understand he has autism and thats ok

marthakay choombe

As a mum to a beautiful boy 7 who is Autistic and ADHD, I felt like giving James a hug and telling him its ok to be different and pipo who love you will understand and know how to respond to you💖

marthakay choombe

In a nut shell!! THE BIG BANG THEORY,SHELDON COOPER..maybe that will help with understanding Autistic trends tho not 100%

Jay Richardson

To be fair, if you're on holiday and your S.O. tries to call you out because you're doing something you enjoy while they are simultaneously doing something they enjoy that doesn't involve you, that's a them problem. They are showing you that they believe what they're doing for entertainment should just be accepted by you while what you do should be regulated by them. It would be different if you were taking time designated to have each other's attention and you chose to actively go take a work call because then you aren't being present in the moment

Jourdan Looney

By no means am I perfect but I reacted a point in life where I became very guarded against other people or things having power of my emotions. I ask myself “why would I give X the power to make me upset”. I see my inner peace as more important than any individual encounter. Hope it helps

Rebecca Hopwood

James, if you’re with the love of your life, she won’t care if you’re on your phone about work. She loves you, she’ll know you enjoy work and it wouldn’t even be an argument.

Alyssa Graziano

A better option would have been complain about your partner to a recent widow

Moniq

Thank you for your honesty and vulnerability 🩵

Jahson

At 48:52 there’s a little Bit of an editing mistake that kinda removes a lot of context just want yall To be aware

Sherry Drescher

But James. If she loves and cares for you and truly puts your needs first and really understands and accepts who you are, then if she’s just scrolling or reading, she should be okay if you are answering a few emails. It’s a two way street.

SG

Wooo 4/5!!! The energy question threw me. Oooo cooking show :-o I would be interested!

Ms. Peach34

James: 1. Stop thinking for your partner, talk to them. You're frustrating yourself over a 1sided idea of the truth and thats not fair to either of you. And 2. date someone who makes you feel safe and less anxious about expressing your likes and dislikes

Jovi Sunassee

bro ngl i don’t think james has actually ever been in love. to assume that when you go on holiday on a beach with a partner and you think she’s gonna be on tiktok when he finds the one i’m sure he’ll be in that situation and he won’t even be able to look at his phone.

LuLu

In terms of compromising, my husband always says this thing that I personally admire, but struggle doing myself. He says that he weighs the issue...if I want something and he doesn't, he weighs how much I want it vs how much he doesn't want it. If my desire outweighs his, he compromises, no problem. If his outweighs mine, then we have a conversation (again, I struggle with this).

My Ego

Props to rem for an awesome back to school

My Ego

ADHD, OCD, and Autism tend to be co-morbidities, meaning that people with one tend to have more than one at the same time

Danielle Philbrook

James- I 100% can relate to that and would have the same problems if I was in that situation.

Natalie Wong

James if you date Asian you can take alll the business calls, money first always! Business is fking business, either you want me to succeed or you want me to fail. If your man is doing business calls whilst on holiday, you should be proud af - he’s working so hard. However If it’s been 3 hours and he’s not put down the phone and I’m hungry, I would expect my partner to put down the business so we can eat together

isaac

James as someone who also has been diagnosed with autism I really appreciate when you talk about things like this and how you try to manage them without impacting your relationships even though we all have very different experiences and responses to change or adaptions it is very helpful to hear your insight and perspective and how you manage this as it inspires me in my own life and my own relationships so thank you for opening up on this and if you are ready and prepared too please continue talk abt this on the pod bc it genuinely makes a difference in my and hopefully other people's understanding of them selves or people around them

Daniel Sackfield

Christ the business phone call part was boring

Josephine De Smet

I love the autism think James was talking about... I don't know much about that, all I can say is that James has a level of empathy a lot of people don't have, very genuine, authentic, will go out of his way to make people he cares about happy, all of that is not giving selfish.

Amy Willard

I do understand what James is saying about feeling frustrated not to look at his business messages, and I think it was an interesting discussion… but I do kind of think he’s being too hard on himself! From my perspective as a girl, I think he’s being reasonable… if I was on TikTok or whatever, he should be able to do his thing. If we’re at dinner, intentionally having quality time together or if we’ve argued about how you never take time out of work for our relationship, yeah it would annoy me. But otherwise, carry on with your business tbh! I think it’s sweet that James wants to feel so in love with a girl that he could do that and not get annoyed about it though 🥰

Rebz06

See if i was on holiday with my partner and he loved his business and it made him happy and gave him joy i would want him to do that if we are just chilling and not about to go out or eat or something then do what makes you happy that’s how a partnership should work

Jenice Brown

I feel similar to James. I went on a trip with a past partner once and we had plans to go to the beach with his sister and her family. That’s what I mentally prepared for. I fell asleep in the car, so imagine my dismay when I wake up at his aunts house. They changed the plans on me mid ride. I couldn’t get out the car because it’s not what was planned, it’s not what I had set in my head. I’m not mentally prepared to get out the car and meet more family when i was ready to go lay at the beach. I stayed in the car for literal hours and was livid. He was mad at me and I was mad at him and it was pissing me off more that he couldn’t understand why I physically couldn’t get out the car. (I do have autism as well)

EE

It was until a random clip popped up on my feed that I realized something..... 🧐 Rem? I thought you said you couldn't grow a beard. C'mon with the 5 o'clock shadow 👏🏾 It's sexy 😉

Mikaela

If a partner expects you to be present 100% of the time, they are being selfish. You are allowed to do things that make you happy. Even on holiday. Responding to a text regarding work is your choice and your partner should support what makes you happy. You should never have to assume that something small like that would upset your partner. Support one another and lift each other up.

Helin Said

The conversation about why James almost cried is the most real moment that this pod has ever had and I’ve been a cb for 6years now. I’m really glad that you guys spoke about this because I can relate to this 100%! Thank you, it made me feel seen 🫶🏼

Zia

Zia

James is talking compromise. But it's prioritizing your relationship over business or something else. He want martyr points. Toxic!!

Jennifer

James will find his person. Have faith there is a baddie out there who will love him just as he is. He recognises his flaws and wants to be better.
