Game of Thrones 7x4 | Watch Along

Comments

Bryan Erickson

First time watching this episode I got the most intense chills, I’ve ever felt, when Drogon came flying in over the Dothraki, charging at the Lannisters. It was the payoff I’d been waiting 7 seasons for.

Dan Sopranos

You know what movie you 2 should watch together HANNIBAL (2001) Its movie 2 after the SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (you both had great individual reactions to it and said you liked it) ✌️❤️

Oscar H

"I would be so pissed to wait another week for the next episode" try waiting two years for another season. We all collectively lost our minds theorizing and waiting for them....GoT is a masterpiece

trysmo324

sansa reuniting with her younger siblings only to realize both of them are completely different people 😭

Jordan S.

The most upsetting part was the time in between Season 7 and 8. It was almost 2 years!

ZitherManifesto

Well Chaos is a Ladder is something little finger said to Varys in season 1

Chris Bruneau

these big battle sequences are thrilling and demonstrate the HUGE budget this show had for the final seasons!

The most chilling part of this episode is watching Jamie struggle with the ghosts of his past as he clearly saw the mad kings dream unfold on the battlefield. You can see his sense of duty for the sake of the realm as he storms forth with a spear in hand after Daenerys landed, in the same manner he made the previous choice leading to his nickname Kingslayer.

"Isn't their survival more important than your pride" are the same words Jon said to Mance before his execution. Mance's reply is worth remembering though. " Pride? Fuck my pride. This isn't about that... You're a good lad, truly you are, but if you can't understand why I won't enlist my people in a foreigner's war, there's no point explaining."

Ryley

"The Dothraki in an open field Ned!"

Miguel

I assume you'll be getting into House of the Dragon at some point. But if you hold off and start it next year around March/April, you'll be finishing up season two, right around the time season three will be premiering.

Miguel

Or watch the first two seasons now, and give it a break/let it breathe for a year while waiting for season three to start next summer. Either way has its benefits I suppose.

Joe Blankenship

If I was a Lannister soldier, I'd have shit my pants and ran as soon as I saw the dragon. That AND a Dothraki hoard? No way. I'll bend the knee for Danarys.

Dani

I think they're gonna love HotD

Christophe

Lmao I completely forgot they did that cave scene with the Children of the Forest carvings, "looky here, Daenerys, I happened to find these ancient, super well-preserved carvings, and while the CotF are normally extremely symbolic and cryptic, these carvings will be super clear and obvious and happen to perfectly further my argument", that's hilarious xD also the Dothraki horse surfing and arakh double-fisting, and the Arya Stark anime ninja moves, haha, this show has become a comedy

Miguel

Waiting two years, and then being disappointed learning the final season was only going to be six episodes. But then the rumors started saying, "dont worry, they're going to be nearly two hours each like movies" and getting excited again. Only to be disappointed again that they were just regular length episodes, maybe a couple minutes longer. It was an up and down time.

DTGstl314

Especially since they are such short seasons - 13 episodes total between both of them. Every one of the first six seasons had ten episodes each.

DTGstl314

Though they weren't what I would consider movie length, the final season's episodes were definitely longer on average than any of the previous seasons... Average episode lengths per season: S1 - 55m 42s S2 - 54m 0s S3 - 55m 6s S4 - 54m 18s S5 - 55m 30s S6 - 55m 24s S7 - 62m 0s S8 - 70m 30s The last season's episodes are, on average, 15 minutes longer than the average episode of S1-6, and a little more than 8 minutes longer than the average episode of S7. The last four episodes of S8 are four of the five longest episodes of the entire series, each lasting at least an hour and 17 minutes. The S7 finale is the series second longest episode (79 minutes), after S8E3 "The Long Night" (81 minutes). Prior to S7, no episode lasted longer than 67 minutes. Six out of the last eight episodes of the series are over 70 minutes in length.

Ladies, ya'll like dragon battles?? Please watch Reign of Fire, starring Matthew McConaughey and Christian Bale

This season is like DnD trying to force so many call backs to hide from their terrible writing. The episode with Nymeria they forced the callback with "no, thats not you". Then this one they had the "chaos is a ladder" from Little Fingers speech with Varus. Then they bring back "isn't their survival more important than your pride" that Jon told Mance. I forgot how many there were.

Christophe

Yeah it's pretty cringe. It seems like they're saying "Remember this? Remember when this show was good? You liked this, right?"

Alicia Hauskins

There are so many negative comments from people who dislike the later seasons in your last few comment sections... but so many people forget that even the worst episodes of GoT are better than 99% of the rest of television, especially when this was made. Thanks for sticking with it!

ok

Exactly. These comments have been here preempting the "bad seasons" since at least the start of season 5. It's incredibly annoying! This is their first watch and it's in a completely different context than us viewers who were watching episode by episode for years. It colors perspective in a way that is a net negative imo.

Chris Bruneau

to quote C3po: "surrender is a perfectly acceptable alternative"

Pabb

Trying to be positive, I really like how they handled the idea of war and destruction dragons cause. Yeah, Cersei is bad. But most of the soldiers shouldn't be paying for her crimes. Like Jorah once said: "There is good & evil on both sides of every war ever fought"

Jonathan Blaze

2nd best episode of the entire series. Jon's pride was getting in the way of saving his people. He literally wants something for nothing. Kahleesi is offering everything he wants, and he won't bend the knee to get this crucial help. Jon was so stupid in these episodes. Kahleesi was being true to her goals and pursuing the Throne.

JB

Don't know if it's been said but the bran 'chaos is a ladder' is a cool callback to a private conversation between littlefinger and varys in s2 or s3

Aj

They're not, though, that's the whole point. They're NOT better than 99% of television, unless you think 99% of television is garbage, in which case that's fair enough. But it's not.
