Band of Brothers 1x2 | Watch Along

Just wondering, how long until the edited band of brothers reaction is available?

Ian Forbes

I think you nailed it, Maple. While The Pacific is great, the disjointed focus on characters and emphasis on the environment/terrain kept me from connecting to the soldiers in the same way I do with BoB. And while Chad probably confirmed this off screen, Arianna you are correct that the plane that caught fire and was seen crashing into the ground was Lt. Meehan’s plane. Keep up the great work, ladies! Really enjoying your reactions to the show. 🙂

would love to see yall react to the pitt, very very good show :)

Chris Bruneau

So glad you both are doing this series. Stephen Ambrose said that the European war was a battle of ideology, while the Pacific was a war of utmost savagery and racial hatred-- I think that's why its seems like two very different viewing experiences and thus very different shows. Also, following the same group of men who served through every major encounter in the war makes it so compelling. You really fall in love with these guys during the show!

Lt. Meehan had replaced Sobel, Meehan and Easy Company's staff were killed in the plane crash. Getting reassigned may have saved Sobel's life.

I think the crazy part was how many KIA and MIA were found after the war. 1LT Meehan's remains weren't found until the 1950's.

Did you read and/or watch Generation Kill yet?

Chris Bruneau

Yes!! I love Alexander Skarsgård in that too :)

U.S. Army units by size (smallest to biggest): -Fire Team (4 - 5 guys, usually consisted of riflemen, grenadier, and light machine gunner) -Squad (usually has 2 fire teams) -Platoon (usually has 3 - 4 squads) -Company (Usually has 2 - 5 platoons consisting of at least 1 admin/headquarters platoon, 1 heavy weapons like mortars and machine guns) -Battalion (off the top of my head I think a battalion had up to like 4 - 5 platoons) regiment/brigade -Division -Corps -Army. I caught a ride in a MH-53E and CH-47 during my deployment. However, I needed to shake the thought that if something went wrong with the mechanics, I'd be spinning into the afterlife. So hats off to your dad Maple!

The only thing that got a soldier out of that specific war was loss of limbs, catastrophic loss of vision and hearing. Basically anything permanent...

Jordan S.

I bet that government issued green paint of the ammo can really adds to the flavor, too.

With that lore drop about Maple’s dad, will she do a Blackhawk Down reaction?

Diegesis

Jess will be moving onto it when she's done with Adolescence

Standard in WW2 was each platoon had 3 squads of 12. 4 platoons per company, 4 companies per Battalion plus staff. Around ~900 men total at full strength. Although funny enough, they actually got rid of the regimental level in almost all of the armored divisions. I think only 2 still had them

You know what, i bet that food tasted great after a day like that.

I too didn't know that Damien Lewis and Helen McCrory were married and I've seen him in a bunch of things: The Forsyte Saga, Homeland, this. Then even have two teenagers.
