I saw you guys mentioned in a post a little while ago about doing attack on titan. Any clue when that is supposed to start, or is it just something in the “to react to down the road” queue?

im assuming because it would take like 47ish weeks to watch it at the pace of two episodes a week, so They're probably watching a bunch in advance than replacing one the ending soon shows then resume the regular 2 episodes a week so it doesnt take up a timeslot for almost an entire year. but thats just my theory.

Rifle grenades used to be fairly common in many militaries starting in the first world war. Basically you have a certain number of adapters issued out to X percentage of riflemen in a unit, and a specialized grenade with a hollow tube slips over the adapter and is fired much further than a man can throw it, using a blank cartridge. They're not common anymore because most countries opt to use an under barrel grenade launcher, but some militaries like the French still have a fondness for them because you can get a much larger explosive charge on a rifle grenade than you can on a grenade launcher

This episode centered around Operation Market Garden-- it was a risky idea that failed. There is another film about it called "A bridge too far." Allied commanders thought the German army was beaten after Normandy, and really got whupped--allied casualties were over 17,000 men!

On Albert Blithe: Since you ladies talked about it at the beginning of this episode, it should be mentioned that he didn't actually die as the previous episode said. He lived until 1967 and died while he was still in the military. It was a mistake in the original book, which was corrected. I do not know why they've never corrected that bit at the end of episode 3. On the motorcycle: If you take it without permission, it can be considered stealing. It just depends on what type of person the officer is. On the orange flags and banners: that's their national color.

RIP James McAvoy

A Bridge Too Far has a crazy cast. It's a great film.

Would love to see you guys do Generation Kill in the future. It's the closest thing to Band of Brothers but set during a modern conflict(Gulf War). It's another short HBO series too. It's based on a book written by a Rolling Stone reporter who was embedded with some recon Marines.

This is a weird thing about Cobb in the show, he seems like a dick and a coward, but he was one of the only Easy Company members to have fought before D-Day, he fought in Operation Torch, invasion of Africa, and then joined the Airbourne after. So some of these aspects he has i believe is Ambrose misconstruing how he was perceived by the other members (Ambrose did that ALOT from everything I've read about the interviews with Easy post the book and shows release), since he had already fought in some skirmishes/battles and probably had a jaded personality after the action he saw. Also a fun and interesting fact, Buck was friends and teammates with Jackie Robinson at UCLA before both joined the war.

You're halfway there. We're finishing up Adolescence and then Attack on Titan will go on the new anime channel so we're setting all that stuff up as well as developing a bit of a backlog.

Yeah. Its important to remember that this is a screen adaptation of a book written by someone who wasn't there but was taking the accounts a couple dozen guys who were in one clique within Easy Company. Not to take anything away from any of those guys, but there are a few things that are questionable in their accuracy. Blithe's fate was one of them. Dike is another - dude was in a very similar situation as Compton in that he'd been wounded previously, and then wounded again in the assault on Foy.

The failure of Market Garden was especially hard on the Dutch people. The Germans had been relatively lenient in their occupation compared to a lot of other countries they occupied, but after this, they clamped down hard and confiscated as much food as they could. And the way the war unfolded, with the western Allies breaking through along the French and Belgian border instead, much of Holland wasn't liberated until the very end of the war. Many Dutch people starved over the 9 months left in the war. The Netherlands has the tallest average height in the world, but a ton of people who were kids in 1944-45 wound up being very short from malnutrition.

Y'all must have missed right after Cobb said he wasn't going back up there, the next shot was him with the patrol going to look for Bull. He was also the one in the ditch as the tanks rolled by muttering, "Stupid, stupid." So he kinda did stand on business.
