SabotheHunter

Sensational! Will there be a groupchat for attack on titan btw?

Rey

Hoping yall eventually just do the dub🤞 for the sake of it being easier to watch reactions too

Camden Marr

omg omg omg. it’s here. let’s freaking go. super glad you switched to crunchyroll, the subs there are much more accurate. i’m so freaking excited. the girls should try to stay away from comments as much as possible from now on, especially on youtube. alright well here we go!! this is gonna be such a great journey

Sevenpsych

OH dear lord it begins. @DiegesisAnime

Elesh

Let's fucking go!!!!

Space Crow

is there gonna be edited versions of this?? i will watch if its just the watch along but i would love a edited version

Aziemarill

fyi there is a post credit scene if there is no "to be continued" screen in the end. The episodes with post cred scenes are:

Aziemarill

Season 1 episode 25 Season 3 episode 12 Season 3 episode 19 Season 4 episode 4 Season 4 episode 11 Season 4 episode 23 Season 4 episode 27

Camden Marr

i think sub. sub won the poll by a lot

ok

Please don't do the dub! Usually if they went dub i wouldn't pester them to switch to sub but it's not necessary since they already are doing sub. Voice acting is great in both but they will easily get used to the subtitle aspect. I know my response is kinda annoying but still haha

Rey

Subs fine and especially for older animes and i will say aot has a great dub voice acting cast, but just as someone who is watching someone else react to a show a dub is just an easier watch, it gets to be a lot reading the subs ,watching the reactors ,and also enjoy the animation. Nothing against the sub tho, its good, just not as fun reacting to reactors

ok

I know you've probably heard this alot but I'll just say - Attack on Titan is unequivocally one of the best shows of all time. You don't even have to be an "anime" person or anything. I'm so happy you guys are watching. This is my first rewatch somehow!

Camden Marr

oh wow have fun on this rewatch. this is one of the few shows i found to be just as good if not better on a second watch. this is my fourth time lol

blitzman08

There def will be, but those will probably come out in a few weeks time.

Sevenpsych

This is extremely important information.

Adam Vialpando

It depends how far they go in. At a certain point with shows there is a point where a character's look or voice will be cemented in a viewer's mind of how the character is supposed to be. That's why usually those that started in dub or sub generally prefer those. It's still early so they could still switch if they wanted and I wouldn't mind either if they did or didn't.

Joe Blankenship

Is there gonna be 6 episodes every week or is this just to kick it off?

Joe Blankenship

Yeah. I'm not a big anime fan and I got hooked on it. I'm not anti-anime, I just don't veer in that direction often.

Mike

One of, if not the best, first episodes of any show I’ve ever seen. Completely sucked me in right from the jump.

T.wiley

Oh boy I can't wait for this journey

Austin P

Consider me subscribed

Woz Lee

Another classic feel good show.

ZitherManifesto

Yup, everyone is hanging around and having fantastic meals.

CK12341

no shot theres 6 episodes a week. pretty sure they just had a bit of a backlog already recorded because I was watching one of their last of us reactions from 2-3 weeks ago and they made a reference to AoT

Trevor Go

This is gonna be a wild ride. This show is 90% trauma-driven scenes, enjoy getting punched in the face all episode lol!

Benign Fork

Guys... let em watch Haikyuu after this. Save their joy lol

Jay- Esque

God I forgot the reason why the English version is better. So much more nuanced dialogue instead of bullet point abbreviated conversation

PurportedGrey

I'm kind of the same way, I've watched quite a bit but it's usually stuff like this or Vinland Saga and others like them.

PurportedGrey

I love how people act like dubs aren't on par—or at least close to on par—with subs over the last 20 years. Did no one watch Death Note on Adult Swim back in the day? Or stream it dubbed on Crunchyroll? What about Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Attack on Titan, or My Hero Academia? All of these shows feature voice actors who are some of the best in the American animation/video games, which has only improved every year. Even Miyazaki himself has praised how far dubs have come. He releases dubbed versions of his films because he wants audiences to enjoy the story both visually and verbally, without distraction of keeping up with the subtitles.

PurportedGrey

Jay... you can't say that! The Sub Gestapo will find you and torture you for claims like that!😂

Jay- Esque

Then I’ll be the sacrificial lamb. This is my favorite show of all time and I’m paying to watch people digest the sub-par version of it (in my opinion).

Jik

I agree that the dub has some better dialog in some moments and tends to be more poetic, but in my opinion the performance isn't quite as good overall. Obviously there are standouts, like dub Erwin is GOAT'd, but I can't stand Eren's dub voice in a lot of scenes (even though I like his voice actor in other roles). There's also the issue of the dub changing certain lines earlier in the story to sound better before realizing that the exact word choice mattered significantly. Don't worry though I'm no Sub extremist lol, I like both overall just prefer the sub, personally.

Jay- Esque

Now I do believe Season 4’s Dub to be horrific

Woz Lee

That's not subs, that's Hulu's version of them. "Now I do believe Season 4’s Dub to be horrific" Literally the same voice actors, working for the same company.

Jay- Esque

The new animation style didn’t sync well with the voices/performances to my eyes and ears.

Weey

The sub smashed the dub in the poll. I mean they should watch it however they want but just let it rest already, jesus.

Anto

Love that you're watching the show, but I'm not excited for the discussions in the comments in future seasons. Anyways, you'll love this

Nigel Douglas

its unfortunate cuz i feel like you guys would be able to actually talk and react to the characters delivery more if it was in english instead of reading. but it is what it is. i hope u enjoy the sub

Shahbaj Mohammad

They will get used to it and its the better choice. Talking less and taking the material at its best form will do them and the show justice. They will give their opinion at the end.

Nigel Douglas

watching the sub is not the best form. the subtitles are always reductive and innnacurate and there are several japanese intonation subtlties that even frequent sub watchers dont pick up on unless they're linguists. Watching japanese as a japanse speaking person is the best experience followed by watching the dub as an english speaking person. The voice acting is great and several scenes are written to be much less confusing and to actually be funny. There have already been plenty of scenes where there was meant to have been funny jokes or character moments, but because of the way the subtitles are done its just kind of weird. The show referred to Sasha once as "spuds" like once in the first 6 episodes when shes pretty well known as "potato girl" because its actually repeated several times when written properly. Or things that obviously arent meant to be taken seriously are taken seriously becuase of lack of knowledge of japanese delivery. In dub they can actually match the writing to the character instead of having a boiled down flavorless english translation.

Shahbaj Mohammad

The fact that u had to put so much effort to defend the dub with some correct points yet in their poll the sub won... Infact still to this day the fact that for most ppl anime sub is preferable dispite the issues u put forward existing in a lot of them is because the issues ur talking about are far insignificant compared to superiority of the jp va. I can't really speak for the Sasha issues u were talking about but over the last 10 years with various reactions I have seen or ppl I have heard from, never did that issue come up. I'm not doubting u, all I'm saying is a minority among a minority might have an issue with what u were pointing out if it exists. What ppl have talked about is that dispite how good the English voice is, the jp va are much better. And I'm not even using the whole genre of anime as an example. Just in Aot specially for Eren, when he is crying after Hannes dies for example. The masses have decided time and time again that a bunch of flaws in subs are always worth the risk to get the authentic vocal experience which in most anime's case is the jp voices. And that is why for most sub is the best form. And besides, dub sometimes changes lines out entirely regardless of if they are good or bad vocals. No matter how u put it, majority of the anime watching community is non Japanese and they prefer sub because they are used to adjusting to a foreign language anyway. It's a matter of skill. And even if one lacks that skill it's fine. The gain here far out weighs the losses like some missed jokes or whatever it might have been, even the unskilled understands that lol. All I'm saying is if I go to a sushi restaurant, it's sometimes more respectful and a better experience to dip my sushi in soy sause instead of barbecue sause😂 P. S. The subs on Hulu aren't that great so Crunchyroll is the better option to avoid a lot of sub related issues.

Shahbaj Mohammad

Nah the subs here are a Hulu issue and the jp va are worth the sub if u can get the proper ones.

Nigel Douglas

crunchyroll actually released the data. The UK is the country is the country where most people watch anime with subs and that's only 48 percent. In the entire world, people watch the dub more often than the sub. Its moreso a question of the loudest voices online favoring the sub. Im not gonna argue over the quality of voice acting or translations tho cuz its not a productive discussion to have. Theres a myriad of word play tricks and ironic comedy from reiner, jean and conny that ive never seen a single first time reactor understand if its in sub. all i'll say is just that its unfortunate to me they're probably not gonna be able experience the nuances of all the characters for the first couple seasons cuz they arent experienced sub watchers regardless. So the show is just gonna feel like suffering without any comedy. is what it is tho. its what the subscribers chose for them

Shahbaj Mohammad

Well the subscribers chose subs because they are experienced and they are the majority unlike what crunchyroll described in their data. What crunchyroll dosent count is the piracy and various other similar sources. Which I would argue is the larger audience. And I would also argue most of em are sub watchers. And crunchyrolls data is flawed because their data comes from mostly their paid customers who are from places they don't limit their content. For example. I'm watching sub side by side with this reaction but I pirated the ep. I have a crunchyroll subscription but Aot isn't accessible in my region for some reason. And just like that I not included in their so called study. They are notorious for this kind of region locking behavior. It's like naming the miss universe without asking the universe. So I would say crunchyrolls stats about UK having the most sub watchers is wrong when they are region locking other countries that may or may not have majority sub watchers. As for the lower percentage of sub watchers in UK, it not a surprise that in the country where the English language originated from the percentage of English voice choosers is higher. And that dosent means the dub is better or crunchyroll stats have much merit. As for the voice delivery, ur welcome to not argue that because u find it pointless. But like I said it's much more important than the so called missed jokes. And ppl choose sub even tho it can be an annoying experience just because of the superior vocals. It's probably the third most important aspect after the story and animation. And regardless of ur thoughts about it, ppl here have proven that with the poll here alone. Im not saying the dub is bad and and the English voice suks. All I'm saying like most ppl here is that the original jp va did their job better and that is why ppl choose the harder path of subs and the jp va by default make the subs better. Not that choosing the easier path of dubs is wrong but I personally would take smaller scale data like the poll in this channel over the data from a large corporations who manipulate data by region locking most non western regions. It's good that u don't want to argue over the voice delivery and translation. And ur right it's not productive because the decision has already been made lol, tho I do hope ur somewhat able to enjoy their reaction. The subscribers want them to be more skilled and get used to subs because of the vocals and them switching to a better sub at ep 5 instead of switching to dub is the better option. Atleast majority here would agree im sure. And some of us watched both sub and dub multiple times and came to that conclusion. I'm not trying to change ur opinion. And we can agree to disagree but like most watchers I'm glad they stuck to subs because they have to start somewhere to get used to subs if they keep doing anime reactions.

Camden Marr

i’m on your side, but i would recommend you edit this and get rid of the spoiler lol

K

I know you guys are already up to episode 8 or later, but I just started this with you. Let me say now that I almost stopped watching this show three times in the first season because it was so disturbing. I only stuck with it because my favorite reaction channel (at the time) was watching. I am SO SO grateful that I didn’t stop because it became my top show of all time and nothing has compared since. It’s been 4 years and NOTHING has come close to how amazing this show is. So even though it’s a tough watch, hang in there. I promise you will end up loving it and you can’t even begin to guess just where this story will go.

K

I loved the show during first watch but didn’t understand just what a masterpiece it is until rewatch. Prepare to have your mind blown!

Jesse S

Sub is on another level acting wise.

Nigel Douglas

more of what i was talking about. they thought reiner saying they can stick the blade up a titan's butt was an actual weak point and not a joke thats meant to bring levity. it is what is tho, but the story is just alot more clearly laid out based on the dub dialogue vs the translations

darkchaos125

Its def not for the faint of heart but after watching some horror and zombie titles, Attack on Titan is pretty average as far as gore and horror goes. I think the thing that was heavy for my brain is the plot twist and how intense certain scenes can be. I had to take breaks as well.

VOCFM

Erwins speech is100% better in english since you can understand it

Kadriya Mirzayeva

Guys who can tell, those words all over the screen, they'll be also if I buy the entire collection or they're just on the first video? And also, if you buy a membership for $5, the $7 collections will be opened or not
