”These are my awards mother, from army” 🦭🦍

Patrick

"Maybe I'll put it in her brownie" is such a good line.

Athasin

Tobias stopped being a nevernude when he and Lindsey finally did it in season 1. Remember the "on next" scene for that episode he went from nevernude to nudist and showed up to breakfast naked?

Owen

I completely forgot about episode 5 and the "my mom is a man" plot line. The mid-2000s was a very different time, it was open season on trans jokes. Hindsight is 20/20, but I maintain, it was funny. I would like to apologize on their behalf to anyone who was like "wow fuck you," it's a bad look. There's a lot of that in media from the time, that's just the way it was.

Owen

Also Anchorman and this episode were essentially concurrent, I think its just a coincidence that both used Afternoon Delight

Owen

Also come on guys, this is the best-written single-cam sitcom of all time. Fucking genius.

It's also not that offensive. The language is a little antiquated, but the storyline and the jokes aren't anything against real trans people. Steve Holt is actually very open-minded when he finds out. He says she's everything a woman should be. It didn't even dissuade him from being attracted to her.

Owen

I agree, just that hearing someone call someone a "tranny" is some dated shit, it grates on the ear.

Joe Blankenship

I'm always impressed by how much foreshadowing they put in these episodes. Mitch Hurwitz wasn't messing around on this show.

Joe Blankenship

"Would a coward have this?" then the stuffed seal, lol always kills me. Gotta hand it to em.

The fact that the gay soldier successfully sued the military for calling him "homo" is much funnier considering the fact that this all happened before Don't Ask Don't Tell was repealed (meaning the man who sued would be kicked out of the military if he publicly came out as gay). It's dark, but funny. The trans stuff is pretty cringey now, but I do love how Steve Holt is cool with it and is genuinely curious. I also love how he had no issues playing Beatrice in the school play in episode 1x3. He goes with the flow.

KM

"When people hear the name Tobias, they think big black guy." "Well, I'm not a big guy." Hmmm... Afternoon Delight is one of my favorite episodes. It's packed with jokes, and GOB is hilarious. Also, I love seeing Michael do the "Lucille wink". Edit: also, "Maybe I'll put it in her brownie" is one of my favorite lines. Incest jokes are a staple in this show, so get ready for more lol.

Patrick

I'm positively jonesin' for the eventual punchline. The crumbs are there so many episodes ago.

30:29 - Buster got so good at it because he had gotten hooked on playing the skill game. And we know he spent at least $100 in quarters on it.
