* ep 21 was a homage on a old school clip show. When shows went for 22+ episodes a season - at times, to help with cost and production schedules, the show would put out an episode that was basically a highlight show of scenes from previous episodes. It was a major cop-out as the episode would be advertised as a 'new'. * I also believe the 'Annie of it all' video montage of her and Jeff was inspired by a real internet person doing that to that exact song. Dan Harmon was so impressed (and/or angry) that he included it in this ep. * in my multiple rewatches - I did like that the show did put clues/hints in that Britta and Jeff were seeing each other this season (make-out in the car after the bar; Britta noting the kind of underwear Jeff usually wears in the missing pen ep.(To name 2))

Normal shows make a flashback episode when they have to save money. When Community does it they make I think it was the most expensive episode in the entire show. How I love it.

Russ Tan

Dan Harmon loved it, he even sent the creator of that original video a heads up to make sure to watch the episode

I thought so - thanks for confirming

Another great tidbit is NBC refused to pay for the rights to use that song (Gravity by Sara Bareilles), but Dan was so in love with the idea that ended up paying for it himself out of pocket. Unconfirmed reports say it cost him $30k.

If you'll notice, the super expensive fake clip show was immediately followed by a bottle episode lol
