I remember this episode being divisive at the time. This was when David Chase had already been well-frustrated with the drooler segment of the audience that had started valorizing these characters, so this episode goes shoulder first into depicting them as petulant children. I remember there being a lot of chatter about it being against character for Tony to be so cavalier when it came to Adrianna and Chris’s sobriety and I was like, “Really? He sees Chris’s sobriety as more of an annoyance at this point and he definitely blames Chris for Adrianna’s death than even himself.”

That woman on the stage was The Holy Virgin Mary. It was shown by the writers to also be an actual apparition because you can see her in the Bada Bing mirror before Paulie does. Probably the reason why he went to his Mom's house at the end of the episode.
