I think the relationship between Mon and Perrin is complicated. I think there's a strong sense that there used to be a mutual affection there but over the years it's slowly morphed into a kind of mutual resentment and disappointment. Mon's career has shaped every part of their lives and Perrin has likely had to made accomodations for that. All the while, it's unlikely Mon has been able to meet many social engagements with her family because of her career, which has probably left Perrin to take care of their daughter and the home. Endless committee meetings, senatorial hearings, etc. He's become disillusioned with their marriage and politics as well as a likely result. He and Leda are often used as props for political campaigning, advocacy, etc. It's one of the reasons why Leda asks to be excused from that social function, where her job is basically to make her mother look good. It's why she makes the charge at that breakfast table scene earlier that Mon always makes everything about her. because in that house it is all about Mon Mothma. Mon's fundraisers, photo ops, campaign ads, etc. That's not really to defend Perrin, who still comes off as a passive aggressive douche. It's just that I think there's a lot more baggage to that relationship than Mon simply hating his guts. At this point, I reckon their marriage is largely a political construct.

I get not wanting Mon Mothma to trust Tay Kolma with her plans, thats smart, but she basically NEEDS him to access her funds or someone else who she would trust even less. So he is the best option for better or worse.
