There was a lot of uncertainty as season 3 was ending. Dan Harmon's (the creator/show runner) contract had not been renewed so the season ended with us not sure what was going to happen with season 4. (six seasons & a movie became the mantra for the show- pulled from what Abed says about The Cape in episode 2-21) This is why the last episode had such a finality to it. Harmon was not brought back for season 4 (not sure if he was actually fired or just no new contract offered) - two Community writers take over as show runners in Season 4 - to much debate within the Community - community. At this point from season 4 on - Community's survival is day to day. * The Jim Belushi joke also is a callback to season 1 where the joke is used in ep 1/7 and 1/14 (in 1/14 when Jeff and the Professor are discussing when use the GF/BF titles in a relationship) Just note: Jim has had a wonderful career. He is not his brother but he is a good, funny actor.

It's funded apparently just scheduling issues as always, with people like Childish Gambino and to a lesser extent Joel and Ken being cast members it's not a surprise they're having issues getting a clear time to film

Now we're lucky if we get 13 episode seasons for anything. Everything in the streaming era is 6, 8 or 10 at best now lol.

He was fired. They've talked about it a lot over the years. He was clashing with the studio and with Chevy Chase a lot. There's a story about the wrap party for s3 where he had everyone at the wrap say "F*** You Chevy". He was also for a long time not reliable for turning in scripts on time. The cast has talked about how they would often film for super long hours and have to wait on script pages and were surprised when they learned that other productions didn't have the same issues. We'll talk more on the matter toward the end of s4.

OK, now that you've discussed John Belushi, you have to watch Blues Brothers now. Yes, it will be a pain in the ass to edit for YouTube, but it's one of the best movies ever made.

I've absolutely loved all your reactions to this masterful sitcom but I'll see you guys for S5 and S6. I can't sit through S4 again unfortunately -- not at all the same show imo.
