Yep! I don't have sympathy for 'pirates'. You put yourself in that situation. I don't even get why these guys have to call themselves pirates. You don't loot islands and ships. If you are an actual goody two shoes, call yourself an adventurer instead. It's like becoming part of a 'terrorist' group and the group is actually just a good boys club not actual terrorists. Buggy is a real pirate. Lol. He was actually destroying a town and looting people.

Some people give few examples of irl "good pirates" to justify this concept. But if the name suggests piracy = scum, you shouldn't boast about becoming one. Call yourself something else. This whole concept of Oda's is dumb from the start for me. Romanticising piracy. Edit: most pirates in one piece are actual shit people. Roger encouraged piracy = shitbags, despite the intentions.

Whitebeard could have send Marineford to the sea bottom but yeah, Ace was there. Now he can do what he wants until he dies. I think he went to this war knowing very well that at least he would die. One Emperor is not enough to take the Navy HQ

It's dumb that actual pirates and adventures like Luffy are put in the same bracket cuz pirate is the only term available in One Piece. Cuz even in the series, when a islander sees a pirate, they fear trouble. I remember in earlier arcs islanders were disgusted and afraid of pirates. Luffy called himself one and they wondered, "hey that's a different kind of pirate". It wasn't looking like a common thing that pirates can be guys like Luffy. So when likes of Gol D. Roger advertised piracy, criminals rose a LOT. 80% of the pirates are actual pirates and Roger is responsible for that crime spike cuz to an extent, pirates in one piece are like actual irl pirates. Aka shitbags. Thanks to "an adventurer" term not existing in one piece, pirates are 80% like Buggy, 20% like Luffy and Ace. When wheat is milled to get flour, insects inside get pressed along with the wheat. In this case, luffy and ace are innocent insects that get grinded with wheat (actual pirates). Terrible analogy I guess.

Power houses like admirals and Whitebeard's powers cause a lot of destruction around them if they go all-out. That is why they have to consider how much power they can show. Don't forget that this war was telecasted to the world. If people saw fodder marienes die because of admirals attacks, they will fear the marines. They have to pretend to be caring. That is why they cut off the connection before pacifistas came. Whitebeard knows that it will not be easy for his crew to escape after rescuing Ace, so he conserved his energy to give his sons a chance to escape when needed. Things didn't completely go according to his plans or that of the marines. Isn't that what war is?

Ther,e will be a lot of emotions during these stretch of episodes. They are filled with lore, foreshowing and many many setups for future. You are not the only one to get pissed off, don't worry. Oda never kill off the characters but when he kills one you will remember that for ages

I think the plan was to keep two admirals for defence and one for attack. That is why Aokiji and Kizaru interfered when pirates were close to the platform otherwise let the fodders tackle others. Once Whitebeard entered the fight, they kept their eyes on him and kept him from destroying the island. They weren't going in all out nor they were letting him go all out. Meanwhile Akainu was using his powers to achieve what they planned for this day. As we saw in Robin's backstory, he has perfect mentality to do that. He is ruthless, cunning and brutal in his ways. When talking to Squard he talked as if Whitebeard only cares about his crew and not the allies. He understood that Ace likes Whitebeard and hates Roger. So he dissed Whiltebeard as a loser to his father and told Ace that even enemies respected his father knowing he will try to attack him if he do. This war is not just physical fight but stratagical and emotional too. Even when Ace was dying and saying his last words pirates and mariens around there are fighting all around.

You know what's the most interesting part of all this to me? Ace died because he didn't understand the lesson that Shanks taught Luffy from day 1: Pick your battles.

To be fair, luffy was punctured by a hook and a claw (mainly through the stomach area which is still bad), not a whole lava fist the size of your head lol You're Boa plan is good for preserving life, but I don't think they'd be able to find a cure for "gaping hole in my chest" condition in time =/
