Also if you remember no matter what admirals were around the area of where Ace was running. Even if Ace wasn't rage baited they won't allow him to escape after announcing his execution and also his parentage. All three admirals were after the pirates running with Ace and not where Whitebeard or Blackbeard were. Even if Boa turns him to stone in front of all, it is easy for them to break the statue to kill Ace. Don't forget they know about her power and then she will also end up an enemy. Marines are all about not losing face. I don't think they will let Ace go. At ennis lobby with Robin, Aokiji chose to let strawhats go and told marines to not chase them, we lost. But here the case is different. They gave this execution a world wide publicity. If Ace escapes they will loose a lot of credibility.

You know; I think this episode was the true start of me giving up on the series. Luffys breaking down, every reactor I see is crying along with him.... and then there's me, who's first reaction to this episode was "That's great Oda; can we finally switch focus off of Luffy to the actual interesting characters now?" Really this entire saga just cemented how much I just do not care about anything that Luffy does, he is by far the least interesting character in the entire show to me.

Because Usopp is actually interesting and funny to watch, and Luffy is bland and boring. I don't know how many years I spent being confused as to how Luffy won every popularity poll the posted; there has never been a time where I have been more interested in watching Luffy over any other Straw Hat. We are 500 episodes in, and I have yet to see him do a single thing to make me actually care about him as a character.

Oh I am 100% aware that I am somehow the only person on the planet that has this opinion; yet 30 years into this series, my feelings not only haven't changed, they've actually been even more solidified on account of more recent events. I genuinely, seriously, cannot comprehend why everyone else likes Luffy so much. I never have, and most likely never will.

Can you go more into depth on why you don't like Luffy? Is it his personality? His backstory? His role in the story? Can you compare him to a character you do really like in this show? I'm just geniunely curious since this is an odd part of the story where you dislike him the most

The only reason I dislike him "the most" at this part of the story is that we've been stuck with Luffy, and basically only Luffy, for the last 100-ish episodes, and frankly it's just been getting old for me by this moment. Nothings changed since Amazon Lily; in the sense of my opinion of Luffy hasn't changed, however during this entire time, there's been nothing to cut to, no other characters to focus on to break up the monotony of following Luffy in the same way previous arcs/sagas have had the other Straw Hats to serve as points of actual interest to me. As for the first part, what I "don't like" about Luffy; he's just boring to me. Zoro was my favourite protagonist at the start, then Vivi, then Robin, eventually it somehow circled around to Usopp of all people. The link between all of them is just; I like watching them. Their fights, their personalities, etc. I enjoyed when they were on screen, they were engaging to watch. Luffy has never been engaging to me; he's just there. He's never once done or said anything that's made me care about him, because what is there for me to care about?

i kinda get it, luffy aint my favorite character either, and the marineford should have been more about whitebeard pirates and marines, but it was just all showcasing luffy 90 % of time which is kinda silly since he should have been like they said an ant here but the main character plot armor was just obnoxious here, he was standin near 3 admirals and they didnt even do anything to him. wish atleast ace did more before dying atleast
