I think you were right with your first interpretation. The Don Quixote family reigned up until 800 years ago before the Void Century, then the Riku family replaced the Don Quixotes who moved to Marie Jois, so the Riku family has been ruling for 800 years until Doffy came

I mean they’ll have… *an* explanation about why he wasn’t at Marineford, but if its good or not is going to be up to you lol. At the very least though: Dragon not being there makes some sense: Luffy was never supposed to be on the battlefront after all; he basically just appeared out of nowhere right in the middle of the war. people didnt even know where he was after Kuma sent them flying from Saboady.

Willfully sleeping and being rendered unconsious against your will seems to have very distinct affects in the one piece world. Same thing happened with Vanderdecken in fishman island, the Noah started to fall when he was knocked out, but it doesn't seem like his abilities would be affected if he just went to sleep. It's almost like your body needs a minimum amount of subconcious strength to mantain some abilites, and being fully knocked out makes your subconscious unable to mantain that level of strength

Yeah, whatever reasons may be given, something that needs to be taken into account in the sheer size of the One Piece planet, I believe people estimate it to be a lot bigger than ours potentially. But even if it's the same size, the war of Marineford took place over a single day, just a matter of hours in fact, that's what makes it so amazing that Shanks managed to arrive as quickly as he did. Even if Sabo tried to get there straight away it might have taken several days, it took Luffy almost a week to sail to Impel Down from Amazon Lily, the only reason all of Whitebeard's forces all got there together is because they were making war plans and preparations from the moment Ace got captured. There are no planes in this world, probably by World Government design, but I genuinely accept "I was too far away to make it in time" as a valid reason personally.

Considering he's in the Revolutionary Army, he could've easily been on a mission during Marineford. Sure his execution date was published a week before it but there's no guarantee whatever country Sabo was in would receive the newspaper.

Tbf, Doffy was already shown to be at least ok towards members of his Family, so I can understand why Bellamy feels betrayed by him (which he absolutely was).
