So I liked the episode but I feel like u could have watched this whenever, or not at all, just a lil bonus slice of life vibe

Few reasons actually lol 1) Timeline wise, this actually should’ve just been watched 2 episodes ago lol. The official timeline is episode 11, this OVA, the next OVA, then episode 12, and if it wasn’t for the part at the end where they show off big hits towards the plot of episode 12, I would’ve insisted on it being watched then (I didn’t want to ruin Luckys reaction to the reveal if Felt as the 5th candidate for Queen 😂) 2) even outside the timeline though; I insisted on it now since theres actually big plot points introduced in this OVA and the next one that are going to play a pivotal part of even just the next 5 episodes. (I’ll be making a full comment about this in a bit, but even though this OVA seems like just a SoL one shot: there is a shocking amount of very important character and world building revelations snuck in here that are going to be important later on)

So theres a couple of comments that I want to make about this vid, though first off: Thank you so much for watching my dude! Now its just the Bonds of Ice/Frozen Bonds OVA next time and you dont have to worry about extra long episodes for this anime until the first episode of Season Three ❤️ (Also: some dude sent you an email about watching this?!? And I thought I was pushy about getting you to watch things lol 😂) As for this OVA: I did say beforehand that this would be quite a slice-of-life-y vid, however thats only because unlike the OVA you’ll be watching on Monday which has flashing red sirens pulling your attention to the fact that this is a big deal: the important reveals in this OVA are done a lot more more subtlety, their importance will only show up as the anime continues. Case in point, the actual most important revelation of this entire OVA happens right at the end on the balcony, but I guarantee was overlooked by most people: it’s the fact that Subaru knows a lot about stars. I’m not kidding when I say that Subaru being a giant astronomy nerd is a part of his character that is *vitally* plot relevant on more than one occasion later on in the story. Stars and constellations come up a quite a bit in Re:Zero, but this OVA is the first (and I’m pretty sure *only* time) where the anime shows that Subaru really does find this stuff cool, and thats why he knows such randomly obscure details later on.

Second thing that I want to talk about is regarding Ram, (cause Ram is awesome, and I like talking about her lol) and another component of her character from the expanded material that doesn’t get adapted to the anime, and this is a pretty good spot to talk about this 😊 Quoting another part from the same story I quoted from when I did this for episode 11: “there was one big problem that became clear to Ram upon living at the mansion. It was the harmful effect of losing her horn, which was the chronic mana deficiency that threatened her body. Currently, Ram’s condition was kept stable because of Roswaal’s treatment every evening. […] Ram’s body was always in a malnutrition-like condition, and she couldn’t even do activities by the book. She was only able to go on as a result of her tough mental strength, no doubt about it. Of course, there was no way she could accomplish her duties as a maid satisfactorily. Still, Ram stubbornly engaged in roles, and she bestirred herself to try and do the same work as Rem.” Basically: you know that whole thing at that was shown after the twins got introduced about how Ram was a pretty shoddy worker, and it looked like she was just getting Rem to make up for her laziness? Turns out: it’s actually the complete opposite. Losing her horn didn’t just bring Ram down to ‘normal’, it actually made her weaker than the average person. Rams body is basically in constant pain pretty much 24/7, so when she does a half-baked job at one of her duties, its actually her pushing herself as much as she physically can so that Rem has to do as little as possible, because trying to make herself do more would push her to the brink of exhaustion, if both worse. And the only reason she can do even the little that she can, is because Roswaal spends an hour or two each night providing pain relief. So when Ram blushes in this when Roswaal looks at her after mentioning that he uses magic daily, it is partially because its quite an intimate thing when it happens, but theres also a part of it where she’s embarrassed by the knowledge that if it wasn’t for Roswaal doing that, there would be times where she would be so useless, she wouldn’t even be able to move because of how weak and painful her body became after losing her horn.

You still have episode 1 of season 3 which is like more than an hour, I honestly suggest splitting it to 2 or 3 vids cuz it can be divided

Rewatching this ova is actually hilarious due to the amount of future references. It’s also great world building, lore and a bit of explanation of the magic system. It ties right into the next ova which is way more important in terms of plot relevance so thx for taking to the time to watching it lucky
