MHA is a really good manga. I’d even say the manga is better than the anime. The artwork, the world-building, the characters, and their psychology and dynamics are fantastic! My only gripe is that the ending—specifically from the moment Deku gained access to the other users' Quirks—felt rushed. Everything moved too fast after that point. I would have liked to follow Deku from Class 1-A all the way through to 3-A, with the introduction of plenty more villains and concepts. I’m sure that’s what Horikoshi had originally planned, too. But when he started having health issues, he decided it wasn't worth it. He didn't want to ruin his health over the course of 30 years like quite a few of his predecessors—Oda being at the top of that list lol That said, it’s true that a lot of people look down on MHA a bit. And that’s all because they don't like Deku. They find him too nice and shallow. That’s not entirely wrong, but that’s actually what I like about him. He isn't the son or reincarnation of some great hero. No, he was just a nice geek living in a two-bedroom apartment with his mom. And he was able to become a hero because the greatest among them deemed him incredibly deserving. He’s cool.

I had the same thought about the whole “following Deku through his entire school years” thing too, but the thing is, even just looking through the arcs as they exist: it could still have been canonically done over a full school cycle. Intro - Stain - All Might losing his powers: Year 1 Overhaul - Unlocking OFAs extra Quirks - Training with Endeavour: Year 2 Raid on the League - Dekus rogue arc - Final Battle: Year 3 I know that much like 99% of all long running manga before him, there was a great deal of ‘writing by the seat if his pants’ for this show; but it is still shocking to me that the entire series canonically takes place over just a few months when it wouldn’t have been that difficult to just say “yeah, heres a month time skip” between each major event and people wouldn’t even have blinked. As for Deku, even before I watch the show with Lucky, the actual biggest gripe I heard was that he was just a crybaby. Even just last week actually, I was watching a video about emotional breakdowns in anime storytelling, and the premiere ‘bad’ example they brought up was Deku since, to paraphrase their words “Typical Shonen heroes like Luffy and Naruto are usually bombastic personalities, so when they cry or get serious, its a big deal since its out if character for them. Deku cries quite frequently and pushes himself a lot, which makes the events that are supposed to be big less impactful because the audience is used to seeing him cry and take things seriously.” And the thing is: while I don’t disagree with that concept inherently, i do think it’s a massive oversimplification. But it is definitely part if why people claim that Deku is a bad protagonist. (Apparently though: still a lot better the Asta from Black Clover if people on the internet are being believed, which is a whole different topic lol)

‘Im a hero too’ is also a canon epilogue from what Ive seen I believe.

Enddow

Night eye was right lemillion became the greatest hero

Enddow

There’s a couple extra episodes that are short but are new and come after this episode

Star

There’s mha more which is like a normal length episode and hero too which is like 7 minutes?? Could easily do both in one video

Yes, and perhaps Horikoshi also recognized the limitations of his work. He might have wanted to make it longer but realized he didn't have enough material left to take it any further. Not every shonen is meant to be as long as Dragon Ball, Naruto, or—even more so—One Piece.
