Hey witches! Here is a Yule tarot spread you can try if you’d like. These are the cards that were pulled for this collective reading. Below are questions you can ask yourself for each card if you choose to do this reading yourself, too.

Card 1: My Night and My Darkness

Questions to ask:

What kind of negativity is making your winter colder? What has been depleting my energy? How can you work on your shadow self and spirituality? Which darker parts of yourself need to be brought to the surface? Which darker parts of yourself need to be embraced? What challenging lessons have you learned? What do you need to let go of to move forward?

Four of Wands:

The overall meaning of the Four of Wands is generally a positive one so this could be challenging to interpret for the questions asked if this card. This is a card of celebration, as well as having harmony, happiness and comfort at home. It also represents stability, balance and steady foundations. Are you feeling these emotions right now? During this very difficult pandemic, a lot of us probably are not feeling the happiness and joyfulness of the holiday season and harmony at home right now. How has the pandemic been affecting you? In what ways is it making your winter colder? There can be many internal and external impacts that may be causing much negativity around you. Think about how you have felt during this pandemic and how it has affected you. What kind of emotions have you been feeling lately?

The Four of Wands represents getting together with friends and family. This card is also often known to signify the holidays. However, there are so many people who have not been able to see friends and family during this holiday season due to the pandemic. Do you feel isolated from others, which is causing you to dig deep into some serious self-reflection and shadow work? Which parts have yourself have been revealed from beneath the surface? So many of us have been feeling isolated, anxious, depressed stressed out and overwhelmed. There are people who are going to work or working from home. There are people who have children in school or doing remote learning. There are many people who are unable to see family and friends, and so much more. It has been very challenging for so many people.

Card 2: My Day and My Light

Questions to ask:

How has helped me through the dark? What is my passion and happiness? Where do I need to focus more of my energy now? What do I need to reflect more on now? Where do I need to shine more light? What light do I need to let in right now?

The Devil:

The Devil card in a tarot reading suggests you are feeling trapped, empty and lacking fulfillment. It also represents how you may be indulging too much into expensive ans luxurious things to distract yourself from the negativity around you. You may have been using this to help you get through these feelings of emptiness, entrapment and in fulfillment during this pandemic, but it has not helped much. It may give you instant gratification, but overall it has not truly fixed your problems.

Since there is not much to do during self-quarantine or when you feel isolated from others, you may feel like you have fallen down the rabbit hole and lack self control. Online shopping, for example, can be truly addicting. This card represents addiction and this could also relate to anyone who is using this as a form to cope with feeling powerlessness and trapped. You may feel like you can’t control these impulses, however the best way to steer yourself is towards something else that is meow fulfilling than these instant gratification desires. What are other activities you can do that are productive and make you feel good about yourself? You can start that project you’ve been putting off, clean out any clutter you may have (this helps clear out the clutter you may feel internally, too!) or learn something totally new that can help enhance your well being.

Card 3: My Candle, My Sun, My Fire

Questions to ask:

What is my motivation? Where can I find inspiration? What are my new intentions moving forward? What talents and gifts do I have to bring to the table? How can I reignite my drive and ambitions? How can I nourish myself?

Four of Swords:

The Four of Swords shows how there has been chaos, pain and anger endured. This card represents that now you may want to retreat and rest. You have tackled a major battle and you have painful reminders of what occurred. What kind of emotional wounds do you need to tend? Remember these are still tender and to be gentle with yourself. Do you feel exhausted? You may feel like you cannot give yourself a break and that another obstacle would make it challenging to take a break. Try your best to give yourself rest to gain more strength and clarity on your current circumstances and situation. Your new intentions moving forward can be to re-evaluate, re-organize and gain more understanding on your priorities. Nourish your mind, soul and body by treating yourself to nourishing foods, self-care and resting to rejuvenate yourself to be stronger.

“The Four of Swords indicates it is time to gather new strength and prepare to face a new challenge. You have faced crisis after crisis, and it is wearing you out. You can face a new challenge only after getting away from everything and embracing a new atmosphere.

Take the time to nurture yourself to re-enter life. Within us glimmers hope, and it lies quietly, waiting to reveal itself after we are healed anew.” (Labyrinthos)
