EXORCISM (Patreon)

EXORCISM is a YA horror graphic novel I've been writing and re-writing for years. It's about two teen ghost hunters who don't believe in ghosts, meeting a girl who can see ghosts, in a house that is actually haunted. And last year, I started making plans to publish it entirely online and then print through Kickstarter. You might remember me working on thumbnails!UNFORTUNATELY, working on a webcomic, paying bills with teaching and contract work and a pandemic do not make for a flexible schedule. That and, I uh, got an agent!

An agent that was very helpful in me getting more eyes on EXORCISM! Including with an editor who helped me flesh the story out a lot more, though ultimately had to pass on the project. Now that agent is helping me reformat the pitch package a bit and will go out on submission to publishers again.

As someone coming from webcomics and self-publishing, Publishing can be an extremely frustrating and exhaustive process. The idea of waiting and waiting and then making edits and waiting some more, only to ultimately be told 'no, you can't make this comic with us' is kind of why I love webcomics so much. As long as you're not hurting anyone, you're free to make whatever comic you want, whenever you want.BUT, I also know Exorcism wouldn't be half the story it currently is without the editorial help I've received over the years.

So, EXORCISM's pitch package is getting a bit of a facelift while I tackle other contract work. I'll be happy to share that process, as how you promote/pitch a GN is something I find very interesting!Oh, also it's not called EXORCISM anymore! Because no actual exorcisms happen in the story. It's more about the main character, Anna, and her trying to overcome her fear of the ghosts in her life and grow as a person. The new title is THE HAUNTED LIFE OF ANNA KIM.
