This may not be an easy watch for some of you, my apologies. The reason for making it is explained over the course of the video.

Thank you for all your support, it means a huge amount.

The Colonel Reduced (to tears) June 2022

This is an emotion-filled video that I wanted to make. As much as it's for you fine people, it's also for me.

Thanks for taking us along on your journey, for showing us parts of what you've been going through, parts of life. Even though it might be uncomfortable for some, I agree that it's important to also show this side, to show the emotional and vulnerable parts of who we are, of what makes us human.

You laugh, you cry. Your one strong man. Herself would approve of your video without doubt. Roll on Season Two.......

I'd tell you there's no need to thank us, but I know you'd say otherwise. Thank you though, for sharing, for putting these videos out there and for releasing such positive material at such a difficult time. That it helps you is hugely important, but I also know it will help others, now and in the future. [Sidebar: I know you'll make a Colonel-esque noise of discontent if I refer to 'content', but on this one occasion 'nonsense' doesn't quite seem right either. Happily, my Thesarus works and I trust will be acceptable.] I'm sure there'll be huge support when Ron Bongo rolls out his Bulldozer. But you'll know when it's something you want or need to do. This week, next month, whenever. FB will be there for you and with you (some of us might even check the weather). As always, all the best to you and yours

Very sorry and sad to hear of your loss. There's nothing that can be said, but when my dad was ill and passed from cancer, a not hugely dissimilar story, I was fortunate to have ways to keep busy. I have found that it's nice to remember in small ways, with small gestures. I smoke a pipe when I mow the lawn. I also found the "Dad dreams" upsetting at first. Waking up and realising he isn't really back or around, it was like losing him all over again, but over time I came to enjoy them. Waking up from them was, although sad, a happy sadness. I got to spend time with him again. As has been said, you tell us if there is anything that we can do.

Cnl, do your things, your way. You have brought a spark of joy into my life, and I presume many others through your content (snort) and your engagement with this community. For this I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I very much look forward to whatever you bring us in the future, and of course you know you and yours are in my thoughts. Thanks.

I am sorry for your loss. Loosing a loved one is tough. As you say, you don’t know what will trigger the feeling of grief. Me personally, it is when I am happy or proud and just want to tell them but cannot. You’re better in touch with the Big Questions than many I’ve met and certainly better to vocalise them. I and many more will spend time watching re-runs of lamenting over Julius Hardware or you building a helix. We will be here when you return. Until then, take care! Grieve when you need to, celebrate the bond you still have as often as you’d like.

Thank you for the detailed description of this process, and your navigation of it. I always appreciate how you speak frankly about real things, from death to the reality of parasocial relationships.

I'm sorry for your loss, Col. Grief is an ok and normal part of our lives. I'm glad you are able to celebrate the lives you both shared.

Robert Goswell

Thank u thank u thank u. U are a wonderful person and shearing this stuff to blokes is really, really needed in our society, at least the global 'British' one.

Please take a very big hug from me. Still trying to work out how or what to say, but my emotions have been with you for journey (wanted to send flowers - son of a florist you see - flowers says stuff when words aren't functioning). Lost my father some years back and I unraveled, strange journey. CF TpF helped me though some of those dark times. Kia Kaha (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kia_kaha) and that means let those emotion run, that is part of being strong!

I am deeply sorry for your loss, Colonel. You've helped me a lot for last 5 years, during some roughest times of my life. And for that I want to say big thank you. Wish you all the best and stay strong! P.S. I will spare a prayer (or two) for you and the soul of your Lady.

Jeff Bishop

I am so sorry for your loss Colonel. My thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time.

Late comment but just wanted to say thank you for sharing so many details on this private matter. Myself and wife learned a fair bit and it gave us the nudge to get father in law tested as he had most symptoms for bowel cancer listed by the NHS. He got tested and it's clear bit did uncover diabetes which is now being treated. Thank you again.
