The callback all the way to episode 2. When will he get the bottle opener arm?

This is a really fun episode. Looking forward to next weeks, should be a good reaction :). Plus I think the reaction to the Making of (whenever it comes) will be interesting…there’s lots of good bts stuff, and the section on this episode is quite interesting.

The voice of the virus was by the extremely talented voiceover actor Gary Martin. But - get this - they almost got Patrick Stewart to do it!

Geraint Harrison

Kat, you deserve a medal for editing that disgusting moment.

This is one of the episodes that I didn't remember a lot of and I really enjoyed experiencing it so fresh with the Gallifrey Gals. I will say I was really hoping that after the last episode, we'd see less of Catty Kryten butting heads in the very particular way he does with Kris, but otherwise I thought the episode was actually far more fun and inventive that I remembered. Looking forward to ending the series with the next episode! Keep Calm and Smeg on, Gallifrey Gals! Mr. Flibble and I will be sitting here smoking a...MR. FLIBBLE! Don't tell me you took up SMOKING! Well, we have just the antidote for that! Hey, where are you going! This virus is a guaranteed cure for your addiction!

Did not have "lick your elbow" on my bingo card tbh. Now I'm losing to everyone who did.

Hey, give some respect to a Doctor Who and Hellboy actor!

i was a little kid when i first watched this show, and child me thought whiny high pitched kryten was the funniest shit, peak humour XD so i have a soft spot for it, but i get why you might not like it haha/ its hardly intelligent humour

Nolan

Remember WAAAY back in Series I Episode 2, "Future Echoes?" Where they get a glimpse of aged future Lister... and his robot arm? People say Red Dwarf's continuity is non-existent, but it's about as on point as it is off point, to be fair.

For some reason I can't get this episode on BBC iPlayer! Also, if you didn't already know, it looks like they might be filming something new this winter!!

This is the other episode from this series of Red Dwarf that I really like along with the extraordinary first two episodes. The intelligent virus is a neat concept. Kristine's final plan to save Lister was clever. The amputation scene was hilarious. That momentary comradery between Kristine and Kryten at the end and then them realizing at the same time they have to revive Lister. Heck, even the zombie kiss was hilarious in a gross out kind of way. But you see what I mean about series being hellla uneven.

I believe that you were warned right at the start that some Red Dwarf humour can be a bit 'laddish'? This is one of those episodes! ⚠️

I can alternate arching my eyebrows. An amazing talent I still havent found a use for. Im sure its encoded in my DNA... maybe it scared off woolly mammoths from my primitive ancestors... like my uncle Nate

Ever since re-watching Series 7 about 10 years ago, I've always been an advocate for this episode as it has a fun villain, great comedy sequences, some of Cat best moments from this season, and a cutting edge sci-fi concept that I feel did influence some other shows down the line. I can't wait for you gals to wrap up this season!

Paul Flux

That's odd, I watched along on BBC iPlayer yesterday evening.

Frank Murphy

Fun gross episode. That epideme voice was off the charts!

Katrine Myra

I do like this one - I haven't rewatched the middle series VII episodes as often as the other series, but there are some good ones in there. For me it's... Partly the same issues you have with Kryten, partly the poorly handled introduction/writing of Kochanski, and unfortunately, I think it has colored the rest of the series negatively for me. That said, I do love Kochanski in this one, and Cat is finally given something to do. Some of his lines are great, and how about that amazing faint! I think Danny talks about that in the documentary. Well... what can I say except I'm reaaaallly curious to see what you make of the last ep, and series VIII. Man, it's SO MUCH FUN to rewatch these with you two!!
