The good old Clark Kent disguise. Works every time.

Roslin really makes some abhorrent decisions at times. Airlocking prisoners, wanting to assassinate Cain, deciding to forcibly abort Sharon and Helo's child... Even in the kindest, most forgiving light she can be a brutal monster.

Nolan

Roslin's entire purpose for existing right now is to save the species above all other considerations. To the point she maybe blinds herself because what she sees is the greater good. Billy says, "That number means everything to her. It's a sign of hope." Anything that jeopardizes that number must be dealg with. And her, as she's about to die, she's having to decide what threats she needs to deal with. Sharon's baby WILL become a problem, eventually, but Roslin'll be dead and unable to deal with it. So, she figures that it's best to deal with the threat now, while she can. She's also been wholly disconnected from the story of how Pegasus treated its Cylon prisoner, their behaviour with her and not really interacted much with this Sharon after Kobol. To Roslin, Sharon is still a robot enemy

Locoturbo

I will never understand the reasoning for Baltar giving a nuke to the 6. Like, not only is 6 responsible for betraying his trust and literally nuking humanity before, this particular model has also personally killed many on Pegasus, and is suffering severe trauma. All because Roslin hurt your feelings? Like... what...

Nolan

Coming up next: the episode showrunner RDM spent the entire podcast commentary for the episode apologizing for.

Christian Rennie

Gaius is just the worst here. I agree he only does anything for himself. Roslin trying to be a close second in this episode, too. You'd think for someone that keeps track of the number of people in the fleet so closely, that a baby, even half human, would not be an issue being born. This show is so rough seeing it again. Thanks for working through this show, it is easier watching it with you both. I think the Peace faction just put everyone on edge, even more so they already are, that they doing things with a heightened sense of safety and protection from their collective PTSD.

Nolan

Roslin just didn't want to have to start using decimal points in her survivor count.

Time Lord

We realize later that there's more 🤣

Troy Convers

As well he fucking well should, although in fairness it's partly NBC's fault. 😂

Troy Convers

No-one is innocent in this series, save Dee, Agathon and Cottle.

Troy Convers

So now you have a blood test, it will be easier to detect Cylons, hmm? Wonder what series you took that idea from, Ron, hmm? 🤪

Troy Convers

The reasoning? His dick, same as it was for giving Caprica Six the codes. Mofo could have got the number for an escort agency and the Twelve Colonies would still be intact. 😂

John

Oh I completely agree and I don't hate Roslin. IMO she's the "good leader" but MAN she makes some horrible decisions at times. And you're right, they all do with very vew exceptions. One of the things I love about the series is that the characters are flawed and realistic, but sometimes it's like they abuse the priviledge.

Troy Convers

Horrible, or correct in the context?

Troy Convers

That's deliberate; her judgement won't be clouded by sentimentality. Remember, looking like humans is Cylons trying to infiltrate and defeat Humans. I wouldn't trust Sharon either. And lest we forget, Gaius got taken in by a Cylon femme fatale and caused the destruction of the colonies and the genocide of billions of Humans; remember that when you're emphasising with Sharon, Gals. She represents the enemy.

Ross Nolan

The episodes between the Resurrection Ship duology and episode 18 are a bit rough and includes my least favourite episode of the show where the writers take a real life contentious issue with strongly felt views on both sides and manage to piss off everyone. Luckily the last three episodes of the season really pick up including one of the best episodes of the whole show so I'm looking forward to that.

John

They're not mutually exclusive.

Troy Convers

She's basically Churchill; war hero and saviour of humanity, because he was a fantastically shitty human being who was therefore equipped to do the fantastically shitty things needed to win a war against a fantastically shitty enemy. Inter arnum enim, silent leges.

Data Cable

Not sure if someone else has mentioned this, but the name "Gina" was a bit of back-handed acknowledgement of a derogatory name original-series fans had pinned on this one: GINO (Galactica In Name Only)

bakamitai

What a show, indeed.

Jonathan

The show does a good job sometimes reminding us that the destruction of the 12 colonies is more than just 'setup' for the series. Characters had lives before what we see, they had loved ones, jobs, plans, etc. It's fun to go back and watch Rosln's ascent to the presidency from the miniseries now knowing this complex relationship with Adar - what she says about him, how she reacts to the news that he's dead. We keep developing those characters!

Ben Chan

And I'm thinking the whole "she represents the enemy" line of thinking is what the show is trying to challenge and that we can't think of any individual that way because it dehumanizes them, leading to us treating them as less than.

Ben Chan

I can't help but notice that while the men are all deciding the fate of Roslin and Sharon's kid, the women are bed-ridden not part of the conversation. And I'm not sure if the show even knew it was doing that.(or it did and that was the point)
