Not to sound like a broken record but I hope you might consider The Expanse after BSG, I’m almost certain you’ll love it

David T

I always appreciate your frank discussions on the philosophies in BSG, and the way you voice your own thoughts and experiences, especially with mental health. It’s truly an important mainstream issue for all of us, and should no longer be considered a non-talked-about side issue just for a silent handful. In this episode, I too had problems with the suggestion that “you are all perfect, that’s why you can love others.” I much prefer your view (stated near the end of the video) that “you are all WORTHY.” You are VALUABLE. You are worth fighting for. Your thoughts and behaviors may be frakked up sometimes, but they can be improved, fine tuned, can be worthwhile. And in the context of BSG, whether you are Cylon or Human, you can CHOOSE to be someone good, someone worthy. No one is perfect, but we can all be on the path toward “better.”

David T

Some additional thoughts on this episode: 1. it’s never really stated as such, but I believe Colonel Tigh is starting to use his Cylon ability to “project” when he sees Ellen instead of Six. 2. Tory seems to be continuing to deviate from normal human AND normal Cylon behavior. 3. You mentioned the BSG movie “The Plan” — my strong advice to you two is to treat “The Plan” not as a post-script movie to be watched after the series is over, but instead as an extended normal EPISODE that should be watched in its proper place immediately after Season 4 Episode 15 (or 16). Don’t watch it before Ep. 15, but it’s not a spoiler to say that everything in “The Plan” deals with clarifications and additional details from episodes you have already watched. It IS worth watching—and it involves the full cast. It’s directed by Edward J. Olmos himself, and answers familiar questions you yourselves have already asked. It will NOT spoil the last 4 or 5 episodes including the series Finale. It will make those episodes more meaningful. Be advised: waiting to watch “The Plan” until after the series is over will feel anticlimactic. Putting it right after episode 15 or 16 will feel exactly right and will answer MANY questions that need answers. I’d be curious to hear what others think.

Chief is definitely struggling with his Cylon-ness. Not trusting himself not to be a sleeper like Boomer. I bet he's not sure if he just screwed up that Raptor repair, or if it was a Cylon program for sabotage. If his relationship with Cally was just to make another hybrid, or genuine. If when he beat her it was his own trauma, or a Cylon activation. That's why I think he made such a big scene at the bar and why he slandered Cally so hard to Adama. He WANTED to be taken away from responsibility, so he's in less of a dangerous position should a Cylon sabotage program activate. I even bet he wonders if that's what happened when Cally hit him with that wrench. That his Cylon side took over while he was blacked out and HE killed her. Tigh is struggling eith his guilt over Ellen and looking for forgivness now that he is aware of a deeper layer to that situation, and trying to turn it off. And Tory, well she's just exploring what it js to feel, what that process even is and what it means as a way of detaching from it. And then there's Gaius. Struggling with his path, but apparently embracing it at the end as he starts preaching. And what is he preaching on? Something Tory said about perfection, of all things. Probably why Head!Six was looking at her. For me, perfection is an unobtainable ideal, but one we must still strive for despite knowing we'll never reach it, because trying gets us closer than not trying. It's not that we fail at it, but how close we get to succeeding despite our limitations. And I think that's what Gaius is saying? That even in our imperfect ways, we are perfectly fine. Imperfection is our perfect existence. Don't give up on perfection, but understand we are inherently imperfect.

We're well into the Malaise episodes of S4, with little plot progression but a lot of character growth. All of the four's paths are fascinating, but Aaron Douglas' performance over the next few episodes is a particular standout; it's electrifying. He lost his IRL wife to cancer in 2004, so he's drawing on a lot of real life grief.

Troy Convers

I LOVE the end animations! Someone made a compilation video of them on YT and they're a hoot when all together!

Thontor

Still think Head-Six is just in Gaius' head after watching him lift and hold him up?

Tim C

Today's Insult of the Day: "I don't like you. Go back to being a minor character." :D

Karl Ward

There can't be many shows that can prompt such introspection, thank you for your honesty and your reactions. Never have I met you and I never will but love you both, imperfect as you are!

If it's not been mentioned, Dollhouse has some of the same actors as BSG, and came out soon after. That could be a good choice.

Troy Convers

Dollhouse ended way too soon.

Jonathan

"Hi, I'm the new Galactica counsellor. We have two treatment programmes you can choose from." *punches you in the face* *has sex with you* Late to the party with this one, but what a fascinating discussion at the end. For my part I've always thought we can be much harsher judges of our own character than we are of others. Sometimes loving yourself means forgiving yourself the same way you would someone else.

Carrie Schwent

I agree, they are a hoot and a half!
