Nothing but good vibes with this show!

"Thus shall it come to pass. The dying leader will know the truth of the Opera House. The missing Three will give you the Five who come from the home of the Thirteenth. You are the harbinger of death, Kara Thrace. You will lead them all to their end. End of line." I remember hearing this line on TV when it first aired and getting chills. I felt like the hand of destiny was stretching out before me in the narrative. Like, this is it. This is real, and something's going to happen. IMO, this episode marks the beginning of the race to the end, no pun intended.

Oh, right. I forgot to schedule time to cry.

Another installment of the fascinating if plodding 'Kara looks for Earth' quest. At least it's picked up a tad; Anders' hidden agenda with reaching out to his newly discovered brethren happens to coincide with Kara's laser-focused vision, or is that because they're one and the same? And is Leoben exerting an unseen influence? And another Hybrid repeating the warning about Kara (remember Hybrid One in Razor) leans right into Kara having a predetermined destiny. But the real star is the B-plot, a brilliant two hander between fellow cancer sufferers Roslin and Emily Kowalski, who has a spiritual connection with Laura. Yes, that's Nana Visitor showing her acting chops.

This is one of my favorite episodes, and the part with Emily and Laura on the ferry moves me to tears every time. I just love this positive image of what it could be like passing into a new life. Juxtaposed with Kara’s revelation of her visions and the hybrid’s words. Really excellent writing, and I loved your reactions to this. And the other commenter is right: this starts a truly roller coaster ride to the midseason finale (remember that the writer’s strike at the time threatened to end BSG midseason!). But the roller coaster continues after that!

Really liking the pacing and parceling out of the story on this re-watch. Maybe in earlier seasons the development that is going on bit-by-bit would be given over to dedicated episodes. But when it leads to a great blending of the intense and intimate as we get here I'm really enjoying it. Though it is tough luck for Gaeta. A leg wound could at least have earned him a b-plot, but this is a busy episode.

The amazing Nana Visitor! The makeup department did a great job, but the moment I heard her voice I recognized her. Of course, I'm in the middle of a DS9 re-watch, so it's really not been that long since I heard it last. :D Great episode, and excellent performances all around!

Saved at the end there from all the Trekkies having a meltdown :)
