Aron Eisenberg was in his early twenties when DS9 started. He had small stature due to medical issues and played younger characters than his actual age. Edit: and you found that out later in the video. Lol

What hurts this one for me is, I really can only hear Eisenberg as Nog. So I can't buy into the other role. By the way... probably saw this episode at least 10 times, yet never noticed... someone please explain how Chakotay STILL HAS HIS MEDICINE BUNDLE AT THE END. Was it in his pocket? Did they salvage it from the wreckage? He kept a backup bundle? XD

The Kazon remind me of a blend of various middle Eastern warrior sects, like Bedouin or ancient Hindu especially with the honour code. That kind of thing is far larger than a Klingon 'thing', who are historically based more on Mongolian or Feudal Japanese Samurai. They all have that honour code, but are vastly different in culture. But what do you expect, the episode was written by modern Americans....

I don't recall, but was this the first time a Kazon mentioned something about winning their freedom from someone in a uniform? It immediately made me think they were setting up a parallel between the Voy crew being strangers in a New World running into Natives where the Voy crew are seen as equivalent to colonialists -- obvs setting up that irony because it's Chakotay in the uniform. (and of course considering the ep started with two different cultural rituals, linking Chakotay with the Kazon kid)

I don't know if you take recommendations like this but you should watch For All Mankind, I'm pretty sure you 2 would like it. It's an alternate history of what if Russia won the space race. It has 4 seasons with a 5th coming in March!

Solid Chakotay episode. That is what I like about early Voyager. It still felt like an ensemble. Aron Eisenberg is great. At the time this aired, DS9 was starting its 4th season.
