I like Seska, but I could never take the Kason seriously as a threat too Oompa Lumpa looking to me (the tv I had when 1st watching this had them much more orange) and in general backwards in everyway.

Data Cable

And this week, we get Paula's theremin rendition of the Voyager theme.

Mark Chrisco

Just a fun note. Martha Hackett is not only a Harvard graduate, she was close to being cast as Jadzia Dax.

Troy Convers

She's a great actress. She turns up in DS9 soon as another character.

Troy Convers

Oh Seska, you're such a bitch, I fucking love you. And Momma Janeway doing the 'I'm not mad I'm disappointed' again. On reflection I kinda like the Kazon, they're just a bit underdeveloped. And the first time I heard Seska say that she's having Chakotay's kid started the EastEnders drum lick in my head. It's a UK thing. 😂

Stephen Wray

How much faster are the Kazon ships compared to Voyager? given that they've been heading away from Kazon space to get back to Earth, might not be a pure straight line but not going to be going back on themselves.

xeve

The Kazon are not faster, it's more that Voyager has been taking a lot of side trips.

Ben Chan

Are you watching on Paramount+? I think they have an edict that nobody with orange skin can be portrayed as being bad, (for reasons) so they tweaked the saturation of the skin tone.

Ben Chan

I don't doubt their Google Maps timeline looks like a crazy straw with all their diversions.

Ben Chan

I've said it on other Star Trek shows and I'll say it here -- not a fan of forced pregnancies, and this is another version of that. (at least they spared a female crew member this time?) At first I wondered how Seska was able to extract spermatozoa from Chakotay's neck, but I guess UPN couldn't have her go to the source and jam a needle in his crotch.

Locoturbo

Have to imagine Voyager is going around trying to collect necessary supplies

xeve

I used to, but then I bought dvds. Originally over the air. Do you remember them looking like they were out of Willy Wonka?

Siva

this was a good episode but I also did not like that end twist about the baby. I don’t want to say more due to spoilers but was not a fan of this development.

Stuart Carden

I was so looking forward to you both seeing this episode. Seska is truly evil!

streaky

This is an interesting episode and actually a bit of a serious escalation in Trek - the idea of spacing somebody with the transporter is thrown around in other series, but it's the first time its actually acknowledged as a specific tactic and the consequences directly shown on screen. It is interesting how there's a whole discussion of working outside Starfleet norms and regulations, right at the point where the show starts working outside of Star Trek norms and blurring earlier shows' (and Voyager's) moral certainty. The problem with this show, I mean it's not a big problem, but it is a problem in a story sense and the show is meta-aware of this fact, Voyager is too powerful for the Delta Quadrant - so you need these sorts of escalations because nobody is really a threat to them, other than space itself.

tal goren

what I don't understand is why they didn't force the Kazons to transfer Seska back to their custody. she was obviously too dangerous to be kept free.

Hell3Quin

So does this mean the kazon don't have shields? How are they a threat then?
