Such a sweet episode. I definitely missed it the first time around, which is probably for the best. My angsty 16 yr old self wouldn't have appreciated it. E: ok got to the end. Feels less sweet when there's no attempt to address pain during sickness. A common and deliberate tactic for religious and other anti-assisted dying types.

I'm slightly on Paris' side with the clocking Chakotey thing. Let me explain. Over 20 years ago I was in the Territorial Army (National Guard), we had the Junior Ranks Club at every base where officers 'had' to request entry and was the only play where we didnt have to wear our berets or salute. So when mr tattoo cum lately to my culture face decides bring up a bollocking in what is Voyagers only communial rest area... In our army that officer would be getting a monumental bollocking by the Warrant officer for getting themselves in front of that fist.

Feels like Chakotay unnecessarily grabbed Paris's arm on the bridge in an attempt to reassert extra authority following the confrontation in the mess hall while also knowing that there'd be a reasonable chance Paris would react like he did towards being unnecessarily grabbed. Ego/aggro Maquis mentality. I'm on Team Tom.

This was around the time the Doctor and others were catching up with Kes and Tuvoc for me. OT, if you haven't seen the Wonder Years scene where Bob Picardo plays a gym teaching the female reproductive system to a bunch of boys, it's a good laugh imo.

While it's generally considered unethical for a doctor to date someone under their care, this was so well done we'll give the Doctor a pass. It's funny to think how differently it would have come across if it were Bashir. (this ep just reminds me how Bashir's one-off romance episode fell flat) Aside from the drama of this ep, it also had a few real LOL moments 😂 This ep also makes me think of the DS9 ep Kat just watched (Playing God) where the episode rested on the skills of the guest actor and where that actor wasn't up to the task, the actress here was fantastic! (Susan Diol - she was in an ep of TNG as well) I wish they had given her a line in the last scene when she was back in her body though.

I guess one reason is the Doctor never came off as a creeper like early Bashir

I love this episode ❣️ both of them exploring love, finding & embracing themselves. I’m chronically ill and watching this now with a very obvious feeding tube and always being seen as ill itadds to understanding her journey. Thankyou both for ur amazing reactions and feeling all alongside us! ☺️

I absolutely adore this episode. I even have a collector plate that has scenes from the episode painted in it. The story with Danara and "Schmulus" is beautifully told, and the performances from Robert Picardo and Susan Diol are just fantastic. It was nice to have a good cry with y'all 🤣
