The guy you recognise, you might also recognise from Game of Thrones, where he played Edmure Tully, or possibly from Rome, where he played Brutus. He has a pretty long history of these kind of supporting roles, upending things out of nowhere. Oh, and yes, Baroness Sureka is commonly interpreted as being the in-universe version of Baroness (Patricia) Scotland of Asthal, who has been involved in a couple of controversies of her own. At the time of airing, the most immediate one was probably related to having employed illegal immigrants, but in the standard ironic twist of The Thick of It, a few years after this series ended, she was involved in a leakage scandal.

One detail I love in this episode is Malcom's assistant sitting behind him as he testifies looking increasingly upset. Of all the characters those two are the only ones who have each others back.

Mark Ten

They swear to tell the truth and you can only wonder why their pants dont catch fire!

Tippis

Yeah, Sam has been a consistently excellent background character — I think she has all of one line throughout the entire TV series and has managed to convey a lot with all these little expressions every time she shows up. A lot of Malcolm's character would be a lot more unclear without her reacting to it or giving it something to bounce off of.

Rach

Yeah she basically just says Happy Birthday, and I think there's one scene where she asks him about his weekend? The scene that always gets me is when she's crying after Malcom gets fired in season 3, and he goes over to defend her

Like he said, noone gets to be in the position of those inquiry chairs (especially not getting to be a baroness as well) by being squeaky clean. As for politics, until burnham reveals that he is in fact starmer 2.0 (he is) a lot of the trash is taking itself out and all being aided by Count Binface

Sebastian Bodine

I think the break of format and taking away our omniscience for what feels like this series climax is one of the reasons I love this series a bit more than series 3. It constantly throws you out of the comfort zone
