We appreciate you all so much and are thankful everyday we wake up for the community we have! We want to make sure we do everything we can to keep our channel running and that definitely means making sure that we're doing the right thing legally. There will be some shows that continue our previous format such as our Steven Universe reactions because of how they were recorded and we've already got a little bit of a back log recorded and ready to go. Though those will continue to have low audio formats and what not. We thank you so much again and hope you can understand! We want everyone to be able to continue to have access to our content and not risk going away forever! We appreciate you all so very much.

Honestly a little surprised you guys hsve gotten as far as you have with the uncut reactions. Glad I collect physical media though, so I won't miss out on Red Dwarf and BSG. (Also, having seen another reactor using Amazon to stream BSG, the captions they use are SO innaccurate)

Mark Clapham

Does the difference in location make any difference, for example Uk can only watch Doctor who on BBC Iplayer whereas USA use Disney +, i know sometheres there is a very slight difference in playback speeds etc, also worth pointing out sometimes the two versions might have very minor edits, also before anyone mentions it i'm obviously referring to legal ways to watch in the UK/USA. it wasnt much of an issue, i just hit pause for a second every now abnd then to sync back up. love the channel.

Sephsekla

Well I for one am always excited to see your reactions, whether you plan to watch along or watch a short

Martyn Hill

I understand why you are doing this. I will give it a try, but I find Watch along a pain to fiddle with as although I do have the shows they are on physical media which is more of a pain to sync up.

Diego Rodríguez

Yeah, we used to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer with a friend just like Kat and Paula do now while chatting online, but our sources were different and we had to constantly stop and resync because one of us was somehow faster than the other. It was always surprising as we couldn't tell the difference

Diego Rodríguez

This is a bummer 😞, I will of course give this a shot as I love your reactions, but I usually watch you on my TV, and just moving my eyes up and down between the video and you is extremely easy. To now find a second screen where to watch the video, sync them up, maybe more than once in the same video, different audio streams, and probably find a way to put the second screen that isn't too out of the way, it won't be as easy for sure.

Kirk Deighton

Occasionally my favourite Serb reactors watch a Euro PAL encoded version of shows I have in US NTSC format. To correct playback speed issues I load their video in a Chrome Browser, open the console with F11 and post in "document.querySelector('video').playbackRate = 0.9591" without the quote marks, hit enter and playback is synched. I guess its possible to do the maths to get the ratio for the speed going the other way from that, but I've not had a Maths class in over 30 years.

John Welch

Oh No!!! This happens right at a time when Battlestar Galactica isn't on any major streaming sites right now. This is a MAJOR bummer. I mean I get your rationale but if I had known this when we were voting I would have voted for Farscape. I definetly have no intention of paying 160 bucks to the whole show with each episode at 1.99 a pop.

Krissie

Dr.Who is still on the BBC (which you need a TV licence for) in the UK not on Disney, not sure where to watch Red Dwarf it only goes to season 7 i believe on BBC iplayer . Wherever the stuff is probably have to pay a subscription for it and then pay for patreon it's a bit to much for me sorry :( but it's been fun :)

TuneIntoSanityFM

Of Course you have a fish skeleton earring now.

Katrine Myra

I actually really enjoyed (and preferred!) watching along with the latest Who episodes! I was thinking about doing the same with Red Dwarf just on my own, so this is actually good news for me. I know this is a tough choice to have to make, and it might be unpopular for some, but know that you have my support. <3

Katrine Myra

I like to do picture-in-picture - most players have that option now. :)

Thontor

When I signed up for patreon to watch your full length Star Trek reactions I was shocked when I saw you had the whole show in the picture-in-picture. Most other reaction channels i'm a patreon for do not have the reference footage along with their full length reactions. For the first episode of TNG I had the episode all set up to watch on Paramount+ and your reaction ready to play on the other screen and it turned out I didn't need to do that, which was weird. One thing I've seen other channels do is have a few seconds of the beginning of the show to help with the syncing so if you gals could do that, that would be really appreciated. Thanks for everything you do!

Michael Olson

As others have said this is fairly common so I also fully support this.

Diego Rodríguez

Oh, that's a nice idea, I might try that! At least it might solve part of the problem ^^

Chris Fone

I completely understand this move, hope it works well for you. Just a quick question, will this also happen for the patreon exclusive things, from now on?

Bret Hart

This is a totally understandable decision, and I'm not going anywhere. Being a part of the community you've both built has been a game-changer for my mental health. Thank you!

Funny That

Fair is fair enough really, and as shows switchover this the most polite time to being doing it. Had no bother with the recent Doctor reactions, and should be grand going forward.

IcarusAbides

They added the whole of Red Dwarf to iPlayer a few months ago in the UK so it's all there including Back to Earth

Chris Neumann

The only... I wouldn't even say issue, but something to be aware of is that Red Dwarf VII has episodes that are different lengths and it might not be clear which you're seeing from however you're seeing it (Episode 1 Tikka To Ride has 30 minute and 33 minute versions, for example) and Back In The Red and The Promised Land both have episodic and movie-length versions. So something to be aware of when you do those episodes so we can sync up correctly, so we're all watching the same thing. Oh yes, and while we all have Red Dwarf, the Tubi version has a BBC logo at the start of each episode, but the DVDs and blu-rays don't (I have the UK blu-rays but I keep putting on the TUbi version because it's right there), and likewise I imagine the Paramount+ version of Generations and First Contact might have alternate/different logos than the DVDs/blu-rays which could also mess with everyone's syncs.

Krissie

I just looked goes to series 7 then The Promised land for some reason 🤷‍♀️BBC did upto series 8 then Dave toke over

Mr Kitty

It is very helpful to have a running timer on your videos. So if there's a glitch in playback we can re-sync both videos (Our copy and your reaction). I've tried watching with many patreon creators that use this watch-along method and without a timer it can get really annoying. Thanks!

Mike Connaghan

I am not familiar with this "Dizz Knee" of which you speak.

Travis Boyle

I saw Battlestar Galactica The Complete Series on Blu Ray on Amazon for $85. That's in Canada. Not sure where you live but America I assume is even cheaper. But I get if people don't want to buy physical media anymore. I personally still do especially now that companies like Paramount removing stuff like Star Trek Prodigy for a tax break.

Travis Boyle

Understandable. Everyone seems to be going this way. "Changes they're rough " made me laugh for some reason. Would this apply to the Making of Red Dwarf documentaries? I have the DVDs so it's alright for me personally just wondering because they might be hard to find for others.

John Welch

Not really a practical option for me. I watch the girls stream via the Patreon app cast to my Roku TV. My TV does not have PIP so even if I wanted to pay $60-$80 to watch along with them using my Xbox i’d have to set up two goddamn TVs next to each other lol. Not really doable for me.

John Welch

We’re starting to get into the “how many additional purchases do I have to make to watch along?” territory. To be clear I’m not bitching that they’re changing their policy it’s probably the right thing to do. I’m just disappointed that their new reaction is something that’s not available on any major streaming service. At least Farscape or Babylon 5 can be streamed easily by anybody who already has those services I already spend about $80 a month for streaming between all the services I have it’s my goddamn bad luck they decided to review Battlestar Galactica at a point where it’s on none of them lol

Artemis Zeidman

Oh, geez. I hope some of the content you react to is available to stream for free, because I’m unlikely to subscribe to a streaming service on top of my monthly contribution (currently I don’t subscribe to any and just binge YouTube most days). I do understand that, if you want to expand the channel (including adding full-length reactions to public-facing platforms, like YouTube), this is a necessary step. We’ll see how it goes. I’ve been a patron for a couple years now at least, so I’m not going to jump ship at the drop of a hat. I hope you all will continue to do some content in other formats (like Kat’s recent Telltale playalongs).

Nicole Mazza

Definitely understandable. For me, hopefully there will be a bit of sound to help sync up (it can be quiet but that always helps me). A timer CAN help, but if you're, say, beginning watching it from a DVD vs online media or whatever, sometimes there's a logo at the beginning or something that will throw the timing out of whack between you guys and the viewer. Also, there's differences in frame rates often (often about 4% slower or faster between the US and UK), especially between countries, but those are adjustable usually on the viewer's playback device (well, on VLC, at least), if not a bit challenging sometimes -- LOL. I'll try my best to hang in here, because I've followed you guys for quite a few years now. I just know that I struggled a bit with the Doctor Who reactions and just plain gave up on the Marvel ones because I spent so much time syncing it up, it was too difficult to just sit back and enjoy the reaction. But again, here's hoping it works out!

Martyn Hill

I hope it doesn't happen for the exclusive stuff as they are not always easy to find to be able to stream alongside, may have to downgrade my tier if this proves too diifficult

paul

I like how you pointed out the upsides: being able to watch full screen, balance the audio, not have subtitles on, the fact that you two can react to more shows now, etc.

BrightHeart

There's also the thing that a lot of modern desktop pcs and laptops don't have disk drives so dvds/blu-rays are useless if you watch the gals on them. With buying BSG on Amazon to stream is between £12 and £15 depending on the season.

BrightHeart

Mentioned in the discord but, with things going this way, I'll probably end up dipping because I'm kind of needing to keep an eye on my finances and dont really have the money to pay for all the extra streaming services potentially needed/buy the seasons outright with BSG.

Mark Ten

Got it. Whatever works best for you. Trust ya'

tal goren

One thing I noticed is that the move to watch along seem to have improved your youtube edits. before they always felt too short, but now you allow yourselves to put more of the reaction in, because the episode itself isn't there.

John Welch

In the United States it’s $35 for season one. Assuming all seasons are the same price it’s about $140 for the entire series.

Joe Concepts

Yours was one of the few reaction channels with the full video included, but it makes sense why you wouldn't do it. I was just happy that we got all of TNG that way. It's so much easier, but probably kind of a risky thing.

TheHimble

I understand you've got to protect your channel and make things work. Watch along format has always been difficult, however, as I've tried with other reactors who do this and can never keep in sync. Not sure if this is due to different playback speeds, like people are suggesting here, or slightly different versions available not quite matching up. I'll see how well it works here but I've always ended dropping out on other reactors who do it this way because of these frustrations.

Brodie Vickers

Luckily being in the UK we have the majority of these show's on stream, except maybe Steven Universe but I don't watch that anyway. To those who might have a problem, your best bet is VPN.. or a physical copy, but I know from experience that those can be a pain in the butt to sync up!

Ryan George

Does anyone know how to sync up a reaction I’ve always had trouble doing that

John Welch

So it turns out that when the Gals had the poll in may to choose between BSG and Farscape BSG WAS streaming on Peacock. It left Peacock at the end of June and has been unavailable on subscription stream sites since. Shitty timing. I wonder if the Gals are aware.

Luck Dragon's Lair

If you're using windows what I do is either use my second monitor or if you only have one you can drag one of the windows against the right or left side and it'll resize to fit exactly half the screen... then it should let you pick the other window to go to the other side (if it doesn't drag the window again sometimes I have toto do it twice. Then you should have both up... start the GG and then as soon as they click play you click it too... :)
