Cautiously excited about the episode, especially seeing Ncuti in a skirt (supposedly it's a skirt, not a kilt). Unfortunately the antisemitic aspects of the goblins could derail things and that worries me.

And you're right about the people not being a monolith thing and that people's individual experience will affect how things resonate or not with them (re: the goblins issues). I've been following the discourse so far with interest and hope to learn more after the episode airs, as I'm not Jewish myself, and I'd rather hear their voices on the subject than my own. (And yeah, you're totally right about the Rose trans stuff, because while it was great and affirming for some, unfortunately for me -- an NB, my wife -- who is transfemme -- and several of my close trans friends, it mostly hit wrong and we REALLY didn't like the way it was handled. It's such a tricky thing. Definitely very YMMV.)

Kat, your mention of how your mother took completely the wrong lesson from the Barbie movie made my heart hurt. I'm so sorry you had to deal with that growing up. I congratulate you for successfully distancing yourself from that trauma and (AFAICT) creating a healthy found family. Happy new year to both of you.
