Will Kat's betrayal of Paula & the fanbase spell the end of the Gallifrey Gals?

Bret Hart

Doing the watch along was only the 2nd time I've seen this. It has a few nice moments, but it's not one I'll revisit often.

Mark Ten

Mrs Flood did not know what the Police Box was so that means she doesnt know the Doctor... but once she saw it disappear she knew it was a Tardis so that probably eliminates any existing character. But Ill tell you something, I think the mother was Jodie. Dont ask me to explain, I cant... but you heard it from me first.

Curtis Murphy

It isn't. This all based on the fact her reveal video when she became the Doctor had her in a cloak with the hood up. That's it

Curtis Murphy

Rumour's are there'll be a musical episode this series. So you better get used to the songs.

First Mystery

Ncuti has settled into being The Doctor so fast for me! I love him continuing his fascination with something new before a conpanion pulls him back to the importance of the moment. The goblin thing I have never heard of before and feels much more inspired by Labyrinth especially with the musical number. Which btw I loved, especially the Doctor and Rubys part!

Stephen Wray

It's weird that she didn't know what it was at the start of the episode but did at the end suggesting that something else has changed with him going back

Tyler Williams

Ncuti and Ruby were fun. The episode itself was ok. The Doctor and Ruby in the scene before the musical number was a particular highlight. Also, i think Fourteen maybe didn't spend long enough 'fixing himself', because that trauma reared its head again pretty quick didn't it lol. The goblin king was the main problem i had with this episdoe tbh. On top of the anti-semitic tropes of the goblins in general, i'm also not thrilled that RTD is back on the whole fat = evil trope yet again. Can we not leave that back in 2006 where it belongs? Come on RTD, you're a good enough storyteller to not rely on this stuff! Looking forward to the spring season though, and watching your reactions! 😊

Shaun Barnes

Hey gals. Big fan of your reactions. First time commenting. I’m going to politely disagree about the Goblin Song because I do think it’s a bad take. Whether you like the song or not is up to you, but I find it really weird how you and a few other reviewers think the song is out of place when it’s really not. This isn’t the first time Doctor Who has done original songs, and the idea that the goblins would sing a song isn’t THAT unusual. Pirates and sailors sing sea shanties. You have singers on cruise ships performing while the guests are having dinner. In fact there’s even a singer in Voyage Of The Damned, so again it’s really not that strange. If anything it’s the least weird thing about the goblins. They like dinner and a show. Who doesn’t? So I find that criticism very peculiar. If you don’t like the song, fair enough, but the idea that they would sing isn’t bad. Why shouldn’t the goblins enjoy entertainment while they eat? WE do that 🤣

Shaun Barnes

As for the Doctor singing… it’s funny isn’t it? If it was any other Doctor, like say David Tennant or Matt Smith, I would have cringed with embarrassment. But with Ncuti Gatwa, somehow he makes it work. He’s kind of got this natural charisma and theatricality to him to pull it off. And it’s no different from Tom Baker offering jelly babies or Sylvester McCoy playing the spoons. In fact it reminded me of McCoy doing magic tricks for the Gods of Ragnarok in The Greatest Show In The Galaxy. He saw an opportunity and took it. I think you might be overthinking it personally. The Doctor needed a distraction, saw the goblins were singing and dancing, and decided to use that to his advantage, which is a very Doctorly thing to do. And more to the point, I 100% believe it’s something THIS Doctor would do. But yeah, that’s my two cents 😇

Travis Boyle

Tune In Tomorrow. Same Gallifrey Gals Time, Same Gallifrey Gals channel.

Dr Q Who

The Doctor being gadgetry stems from 3rd incarnation Pertwee, who was very much the 'James Bond' Doctor partially because of all his techs.

I think it is not the Goblins singing that felt out of place for the gals, but the song that The Doctor and Ruby were singing. that song came out to natural to be improvised. if the show would have established that the Goblins's language was musical, then their perfect song could have just been explained as the Tardis doing its translation thing.

tal goren

In regards to the family being miserable without Ruby, my interpretation of this is that her mum subconsciously remembered Ruby was supposed to be there (which is why she was crying when the Doctor tried to remind her) and therefore couldn't open her heart to anybody else. if there was never any timeline with Ruby in it, she would have just adopted another baby.

Rach

This episode seemed specifically designed to shed any anti-Semitic goblin associations though, they were not the hook-nosed avaricious variant that JK Rowling was so fond of.

Shaun Barnes

No. Again, I think you might be overthinking it. If Wayne Brady can improvise entire songs on the spot every week on Whose Line Is It Anyway, I hardly think a centuries old alien like the Doctor is going to have much trouble. Hell, the Doctor is practically the President of the ‘Making Shit Up As You Go Along’ club. Also we know Ruby is in a band. It’s not totally unbelievable that she could make up a verse on the fly if she’s musically talented enough. And it wasn’t perfect either. She said it’s nice to diddly deet you. She is clearly struggling, but is nonetheless quick witted enough to keep it going despite that. It’s a nice bit of characterisation. And I must stress again, having a live band singing and performing while people are having dinner is not some weird alien thing the TARDIS needs to translate. WE DO THAT TOO 🤣🤣

Carl Breindel

Even if it's not Mrs. Flood, I am hoping for the return of the Rani. I could definitely see her wanting to study the Doctor's bigeneration.

Josef Schiltz

Juliet Aubrey would've been magnificent in that role.

Luck Dragon's Lair

Exactly... in fact, I think that's what the whole "mavity" thing is about, it's priming the audience thing to understand that going back can have a major influence on a character in ways they didn't expect but that the doctor only sees/understands when he hears someone say or do the thing. And since he didn't see what she was like before all this really. But yeah, I think it's extremely likely she's either a time lord or some other long lived race like Rani...
